Sorry to distract from the main conversation, but I just had a look on Social Blade and she lost more than two thousand followers on Instagram yesterday!

Also, as an aside, I kinda wish 'Fleur De Super Spreader' had made it into the thread title 😂 (no shade to the one that was picked though!)

Remember when way back in the first lockdown she took a photo of Rivs in a meadow having a picnic and people told her off for leaving home for an non-essential journey....then she had to come out and say "Guys it wasn't an non-essential journey this is part of my estate"
Not to derail the discussion on privilege but that did make me chuckle!

I agree with all you say, but I don't necessarily think it's "working mum bashing" or "mum shaming" as anyone likes to say at criticism.

I haven't followed Fleur in ages and don't know how much she was away, so can't and won't comment on that, but esp for the very little ones it's incredibly important that their mummy is home (more so than daddy!) and being gone very often and/or long isn't very good (particularly overnight stays).

It's also fine to say that and say that about someone when it's perceived that way.
That just isn't true and it is shaming. It isn't more important for fleur to stay home vs mike, it isn't any more her job to parent than mike's.
This sort of shit is what limits women because people perpetuate this idea that *mothering* is more important than parenting and kids are women's work.

I’m waiting for the “it’s been a hard year and we’ve experienced so much loss” excuses soon.
And I have great sympathy when it comes to her struggles to conceive and hold onto a pregnancy, always said that and I’ve applauded how open she’s now being about that struggle.

but I’m shutting this narrative down before it’s used as an excuse.
We’ve all suffered loss, this year especially, and as someone who’s putting her hopes of having another baby into the hands of the medics and consultants every time she’s experienced complications how in gods name did she think it’s appropriate to put pressure on a health system that is there to assist her and her daughter/future children,
when we are facing a healthcare crisis we’ve never experienced before.

and yes, even pre new lockdown rules or tiers were changed, even that full 24 hours before they kicked into place! we all knew what the U.K. was facing into come winter.

What an absolute bell end 😂

Quick recap of the latest stuff at the end of the first thread:

- Fleur has just posted her most recent Q+A (October, 2020), which has generally been received by Tattlers as being very raw, relatable and honest.

- She has very sadly suffered from two miscarriages over the past twelve months, and has found out that she has an under active thyroid condition.

- She now has to take medication and wait to be given the word “go” by doctors before she and Mike can try for another baby again. She describes this as being really frustrating.

- (side-note: thoughts are with any Tattlers reading who have/are currently suffering with infertility struggles. Much love.)

- Fleur also revealed in the Q+A that her thyroid trouble has meant that she can no longer be vegan at present (and some rather tone-deaf comments by her viewers can be seen at the end of the first thread). Mike has also taken to eating some fish as well, though is still mostly vegan.

- In the Q+A, she says that River is at a really great age right now. It’s clear that she really enjoys being a mum to her.

- She continues to create content around some really luxury stuff, e.g. “How to buy vintage Chanel”. However, it’s generally agreed that her overall tone is still neither gloating or grabby.

- In general, she’s just considered to be a bit of a classy act, especially when compared to other influencers.

I tend to just lurk over on the Lydia Millen Gordon thread but a quick couple of questions. I'm not defending or condemning as I like to say out of shit, hence rarely posting.

For people who are saying her apology isn't good enough, what did you want her apology to say? What did you want in addition to her apology?

People who are saying she doesn't care about the NHS because she doesn't use it, do you realise that she will still be paying towards the NHS via taxes? This puts less pressure on NHS (possibility of covid spread aside).

People do seem to get a real bee in their bonnet about privileged people using private health care and education but they don't seem to acknowledge that those people still pay towards state services despite not using them. If everyone who could afford to not use the NHS stopped using it a lot of NHS pressure would be relieved.

If this was an ordinary family, who lived in a small house and who had scrimped and saved all year for this family hoilday, would you feel differently to now?

Do you think that every influencer should disclose every holiday that they go on?
Well, for a start, I’d have preferred her to tell the truth rather than lie. She broke the law. She said she thought it was coming in a couple of hours after she flew. If that were the case, any reasonable person would check the rules. In any event, ignorance of the law is not an excuse.

Even if she herself doesn’t use the NHS, if she infects someone else, they will likely have to use the NHS, so the point still stands.

Yes I would still feel the same if it were an ordinary family. The law is the law and people have no right to be so selfish at a time when over a thousand people a day are dying of Covid just in this country. She is putting fellow passengers, airline crew, hotel staff etc at risk.

And I don’t necessarily think influencers should disclose all holidays. But nor do I think they should actively mislead followers by making it look like they are still at home, claiming in a video they wouldn’t be going anywhere and then censoring the truth.

This will be an unpopular opinion, but why do people care so much about what celebs/influencers are up to? Why don’t we get on with our own lives and leave them to it?
This question on a page dedicated to discussing what nonsense celebs and influencers are up to- cracks me up, sorry :-D

just buy some curtains, why is she looking at fabric. She probably doesn’t even go to that wing of the house 🤣
One doesn't simply "buy some curtains".
One selects a suitable fabric, perhaps with the assistance of an interior designer, then liaises with ones seamstress. Mere weeks later, custom window dressings are delivered and fitted for approval.
"Buy some curtains". Peasant.

Fleur is that you?

it feels like you’re missing the point a little bit.

She lied about being away. She did vlogs saying she wasn’t going away. She put photos insinuating she was in the country. She deleted comments when people pulled her up on it.

When she realised she had to come clean, she did a non apology apology on a pic that was already on her grid, which already had buckets of likes and positive comments, for no other reason than to mislead further.

Just like every other influencer out there - dishonest and misleading.

I love that Fleur used to act like she was above showing her daughter online. And now she’s using River in cutesy Instagram stories to distract from the current PR disaster.

Oh how the mighty have fallen :ROFLMAO:

I think one of the comments on her insta put it right.. “all her privilege and it wasn’t enough” I really liked Fleur and it’s more the deceit behind all this, shows that she does think she’s better than everyone else because she has money. If she could live a day like most in England she’d have thought twice, makes me sick to think of her huge home and property and everything she owns, not having to worry about money etc when some struggle to make it through each week. So effing entitled just like the rest of them.

This reminds me, a patient was telling me about her mother in law, whose daughter and boyfriend insisted on flying home for a family Christmas from Dubai, where they lived.

The MIL told her she didn't think it would be a good idea, but the daughter insisted. Oh she'll get a test, it'd be fine, blah blah.

So the daughter gets a test before she leaves - negative. She gets there and the boyfriend starts feeling a bit poorly. They get retested - positive.

So they had to be kicked out of the house and put in a adjoining shed type thing and spent Christmas Day eating turkey that was left on the path outside.

And everyone in the main house, including an elderly grandfather, is now in isolation.

So all this bullshit about getting tested before you get on the plane drives me absolutely nuts. It means NOTHING!

I'm British too but even then I still don't get what all the fuss is about. I don't come from a particularly special background but I did get a scholarship to go to a boarding school for my sixth form years and there were loads of students who had homes like that (and a couple even had family castles up in Scotland in addition). I admit I did feel a bit out of place over there, but it's not like any one looked down on me for my background.

Again, I still don't condone the holiday, I just don't see what the general fuss is about regarding her home. Is she supposed to apologise for what she has? It's more important that she genuinely apologises for being irresponsible enough to travel in the midst of a global pandemic.
To add to my last reply, which I can no longer edit: I love that you attended a boarding school, presumably receiving a top-notch education that would open so many doors for you, mixing with the wealthy elite who own literal castles and yet... you don’t understand what, er, privilege, is? :ROFLMAO:

When you pop into Fleur's thread for the first time all year and a comment says she gained "serious weight" and you go to the photos and she looks exactly the same as usual...Crikey.

Society has really screwed with our brains if Fleur could be considered in any way to be overweight or have gained lots of lbs.

I must confess to having a slight issue with people criticising such a young child. She seems to me to be mostly acting like any toddler of her age

This anti cancel culture does seem to be used more and more as an excuse to not have accountability.

There's a world of difference retweeting a joke when you're a teen to knowing something you're doing as an adult is wrong - to the extent you try to deceive so people don't know the truth.

Imagine if politicians were saying they shouldn't have careers ended because cancle culture is bad, we all make mistakes, people have made worse mistakes band we're all human & bla bla bla.

Like it or not influencers are a part of society and they suddenly can't turn it off and say "I'm doing this as a private person, think of me as your friend not an influencer" - as Madison Sarah did when she was outed for her covid breaking Nye party.

Their house has a wikipedia page??😮
Let's add the 120 acres of land, Peloton equipped gym, cinema room, outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, 100k kitchen, and staff into that equation for good measure.
