Sorry but I don’t get how the plan is a lifestyle change, is healthy extras and syns a lifestyle ? All it does is causes disordered eating and long term problems
I agree with you completely.
I am speaking as a fat woman ....
Slimming World teaches nothing about portion control. I’m sorry, but if you tell a fat person that certain foods are “free”, they are going to go at it like pigs at a trough. Potatoes are “free” .... you what??? Pasta is “free” .... you what??? Absolute nonsense.
People do lose weight doing Slimming World but if you look at the really “successful” losers, they aren’t following it properly. There was a girl called Sarah Linney on Insta who lost 10st in a year. She went veggie and didn’t touch carbs. Her dinner was steamed vegetables with a tin of tomatoes on top. I kid you not.
If you look back at Titney’s earlier SW days, she was having salmon fillets on a bed of curly kale for dinner.
Big Ben to Slim Ben ... chicken on skewers and a salad. 6ft something man and no carbs.
The weight was dropping off them. The minute they stop, the minute they start to eat like a normal human being again, they pack the weight back on again. Why? Because you can’t live your life eating in such a disordered way.
There was a girl called Claire on Insta who dropped 10st in less than a year. Same age and starting weight as me and she was losing 12lbs a week compared to my 1lb. It was absolutely dropping off her. I started to think “what am I doing wrong here?” .... I looked at her grid and guess what? No carbs again. She was making a Bolognese for her tea and having a bowl of it .... no pasta. She’d make a casserole and have it with broccoli. She has now disappeared from Insta as she couldn’t sustain that disordered way of eating and started piling the weight on ....... to the tune of 12lbs a week. It was shocking.
I lost 4st doing SW, but it didn’t seem right to me.
A plate of gammon, eggs and chips is “free” ..... but an avocado will blow your syns allowance for the day. Don’t eat avocado people, eat potatoes!!!
It’s all complete nonsense.
Weightloss is science .. calories in versus calories out.
My weightloss plateaued with SW ... another common issue. My leader advised me to do an “SP” week which means no carbs. No, fuck off love.
I spoke to a friend who is big into health and fitness and he said, your plate of spaghetti Bolognese is nearly 1,000 calories ...... WHAT???
But it’s “free food” I protested!!!!
He said your cooked breakfast is over 600 calories ....
Those hi fi bars are packed with chemicals.
etc etc
I downloaded Nutracheck and I put everything I’d eaten that day and what do you know, a day completely “on plan” doing SW came in at 2,500 calories ....... what a woman needs to maintain her weight. Hence why I wasn’t bloody losing any!!!
I worked out how many calories I needed and I started to use Nutracheck and ditched SW. Magic .. the weight started to drop off again and hasn’t stopped since. Free food my ass.
And don’t get me started on the salt content in the SW ready meals that are sold in Iceland.
One final thing LOL ...... my mum is diabetic and her diabetic nurse advised her that porridge is the best breakfast .. slow release carbs. Oat So Simple pouches are great for ease, but ideally the unflavoured ones. So I started on those most mornings, as diabetes is hereditary and I don’t want to get it. On SW oat so simple is 10 syns. So of course people avoid it and have a plate of bacon, eggs, waffles, beans, sausage, ketchup instead.
SW used to be sponsored by Muller Light. So they plugged the arse off them. They were “free” .. eat as many as you like! But, they are packed with sugar. My mum said to her leader, I can’t eat those, I’m diabetic. On my life, the leader said “oh we don’t worry about sugar here at Slimming World”. OKAY, so your client base is morbidly obese and in the highest risk category for developing diabetes, but you don’t worry about sugar at Slimming World?
fuck off.
