My next door neighbour was sent to prison last week and has been outed as a committed paedophile. He was raided (by a small number of plain clothed officers at lunch time, so most were at work and it raised very little suspicion) last October and because of covid he only had his trial last week. We were told nothing. I have two children, his back windows overlook my garden. He's had access to seeing my children half naked in their little swimming pool. He also has two older children that lived with him prior to going to uni, and an ex wife who he's been parted from for a few years. He's been to our bbqs, came to our wedding, I've looked after his children when they were younger, we've had drinks together. We were friends. We were told nothing. It's been a horrendous few days of disgust, anger, fear and also sadness. Sadness because we have lost a friend that it transpires we never really knew, because what we knew wasn't real. I've complained to our local police, who have said they apologise for the upset but that it's procedure that he was allowed to carry on living as normal until his trial as they believed he posed no real risk to those he knew.

It came as such a shock, I've gone through all my social media accounts and whittled down friends and followers to literally a quarter of what they were. I feel sick to my stomach that Titters and Nazi share photos of Betsy in her swimsuit to nearly 120k randoms. Jesus christ, post as much bullshit about yourselves as you want but don't put your beautiful daughter in a vulnerable position just for some free brownies. They literally have no idea who is following them.
