Your wifi password

We used to have a limited WiFi package which meant we only had a certain amount of internet use before it ‘ran out’. So I think I’d definitely be a bit stingy about handing out the WiFi password if we still had that.

We’ve got unlimited now so it’s not a problem.

Oh yeah, definitely. I give it to anyone that asks, I'm not fussed who knows it neither are any of the family. I have an unlimited data plan though so I never ask anymore.

We have a relative who is really stingy with her Wifi! She has never offered it to anyone even with all our not so subtle hints. Even when my siblings would have sleepovers! She would take it off everyday at 8pm and only put it back on when necessary which was never with them. Even now, her kids (17 and 14) have to ask to switch it on which is mind boggling to me. Dont know how they survive watching boring tv all day - cant even browse streaming sites. She has become a bit more lenient since her boy became a teen but its still so weird.

I've only ever asked for the password if I'm staying with friends for a few nights and vice versa. I don't mind giving it out if you're in my house, but it would be weird if a neighbour asked!

If you are visiting someone's house for a short period, why not use your mobile data. A neighbour asking for your wifi password is up there with asking to borrow a cup of sugar. If their internet hasn't been set up yet, they can buy one of those mobile wifi units. The problem with using another household's wifi is not the amount you are using, because most packages are unlimited nowadays, but the person accessing inappropriate or dangerous sites from your p/w.

I always give it to friends/family that ask. I don't normally think to give it out without them asking but I did have a large group of people over once where we put it on a bit of paper on the wall. I'm not worried about what they're going to do with it, I trust the people in my life and if they're just round my house or staying for a bit, it's not like they've got the chance to do that much with it.

I absolutely wouldn't be giving it out to my neighbours though! I don't know them and I have no idea what they're using it for. I also don't want our connection affected by a whole other household using it full time. They need to get their own Internet!

Visitors? What are they? 😆 Well, if anyone did visit they’d have 4G on their phone anyway.

I don't understand why you would need to be using someone's WiFi if you were visiting them?! If they are that boring that you need the internet, leave!
Where I live is like a black hole, you can’t get any signal at all here so anyone that comes over I put them on my WiFi. I rely on WiFi calling or I can’t use my phone to make any calls. Sometimes people need to be contactable for work etc.
