Just wanted a bit of advice.Started a new job in august with one other guy starting a week before.Last weekend 10 of us met for drinks. I was asked if I was single by a different colleague I said yes.I then spent a few hours with the group but mainly speaking with the new guy.Just because no one else was speaking to either of us much.He offered me a lift home I declined but let him drop me to the tube 2 minutes drive. Forward to Monday morning the team are talking about the night out making out some hook up happened as we left together.It didn’t.The guy is a bit shy and just laughs it off I just ignore it completely.I don’t give a flying duck about my colleagues tbh.But since the weekend he is being extra friendly holding doors,complemting my outfits,offering to help me with tasks I did last week alone and overdoing the chit chat.I don’t want to be a witch or a rooster tease but I’m not interested.We have been quite pleasant to each other since working and now it’s becoming a bit to friendly which I don’t want.Just wondering what I could do to discourage him from showing interest without looking like a total witch? This is why I miss working from home

Honestly growing up mostly around guys (having a brother an male cousins in my age group and their mates) they just prefer if your straight with them, it could be maybe he just generally wants to be a gentleman an a friend, hard to find them these days but some are just like that especially if they are shy, if they feel like someone is being friendly with them then they might think you would be a good friend to just chat with, I have a few male friends that are as you say "overly friendly" an they just enjoy having a friend they can talk with an most things they do if I didn't know their upbringing would be taken in the wrong way like flirting or trying to make a move, like the car ride, I know for a fact the males in my family would get a kick in the ass if they didn't offer rides home for a female, or hold doors open etc, on the other hand if he's being friendly in a way to make a move then it's better dealing with it sooner than later, the more it goes on the more he may think there's a chance of anything happening, it's better to just get it out in the open, it can be hard but it's honestly for the best an they prefer it that way, if you want to keep him as a friend its always best to just deal with it that way there's not been enough time to make things too awkward where you both won't want to look at one another

All you have to do is decline his offers of help - say no when he offers help and that you really don’t need or want an extra hand and if he says stuff about how you look I would just say that it’s probably not appropriate to say that. He should get the hint. If he persists and you feel uncomfortable or that he’s crossing a line then you will have to literally tell him that you aren’t interested and that you really just want to be work colleagues and absolutely nothing more.

I have been doing this today just keeping my distance and saying no thank you to any help being offered.Hopefully he takes the hint.I won’t be taking a lift from anyone anytime soon.

One of the managers use to fancy me at my old place . This man was not for me at all we were completely different and no idea why he liked me . I just had to distance myself as much as I could .He did invite me round his house for tea which i politely declined. Don't hear from him now .
