their status greyed out (presumably meaning they've been away from their desk for a long time), do you wonder where they go? Does anyone ever ask?

My workplace uses Microsoft Teams but it’s not essential to our jobs and it’s pretty common to turn it off completely unless you have a scheduled meeting, which would only happen a few times a week. We’re accountable in terms of the finished product, not necessarily in terms of being visible online for the entire workday. If you weren’t doing your job, it would become very apparent very quickly, regardless of when you last went online in Teams.

Our workplace is quite lucky as they are very flexible within reason. As long as you attend client meetings and get your work done they aren’t bothered when you log on. A lot of people are home schooling and will pick up work in the evening as it suits them more etc.

I am an early bird so will log on around 7 but like to take a longer lunch often going for a walk. Other colleagues don’t log on till 9/ half 9 as they enjoying the lie in WFH brings them. I personally wouldn’t question it unless you have concerns they aren’t producing their outputs

Ours is very flexible. I’ve started switching mine off onto presenting when I don’t want to be contacted and need to concentrate on a task or in an important meeting.

Like others, my workplace is quite flexible as long as the work is being done. I change my status to ‘do not disturb’ if I have a particularly challenging task to do but we have a group chat that we tend to use for anything urgent. I must admit that if someone other than my manager questioned me I’d find it quite rude. It’s not their place nor is it mine to question anyone else.

I'm not working from home anymore but I've completely switched teams off now. I had a colleague message me the other day saying she can't get hold of me on teams:rolleyes:. Before Covid we didn't even use teams so just call me like you used to do!

I'd never ask why someone has been away for a long time and if someone asked me I'd tell them where to go.

As long as people respond to any queries within a reasonable amount of time and the work is getting done, it doesn't bother me.

If there are performance issues with an individual that's up to management to pick up.
