I’d be expecting a day off for the funeral and there’d be wall to wall coverage but I’d hope the country will carry on as usual otherwise .

Can’t say I think about it that often.
I’m a nurse and I doubt I would get a day off if I died, let alone the queen.

Imagine having to sing “god save our gracious king”

The national anthem should just be rewritten
You know we’re all going to spend at least 10 years singing “gracious Queen...shit I mean King...long live our noble Queen...fuck King...God save our Queen, dammit King”

Anyone else sometimes ponder on what it will actually be like for the first few days? There's some crazy stuff online. Things like the banks/ shops/ schools shutting for days/weeks. Does this mean we can expect no money and food and our kids at home? Also I saw an article that said all comedy will be banned?! 😱 How will this be enforced? Should I be downloading a secret stash off Netflix now for secret viewing?
Some of what's written is interesting, the first we will know is announcement at 8am. Special music will be played on all networks. Broadcasters keep a black tie handy to whip on should it happen in their slot.
Anyhoo, please tell me it's not just me that wakes up and gives a sigh of relief in the morning when it's just normal telly on! If she dies on a Tuesday I'd be in a panic cos my weekly shop is on a Wednesday and we'd not survive the rest of the week!

Don’t come at me 😐
but I need Kay Burley to be at those gates asking the gathering crowd what they were eating when they found out she was dead and have they ever found a dead person...
Or something completely inappropriate!
If we could get Peter Andre to be there and to cry again it would be tv gold

The real question, how long until they say Meghan Markle did it. 😬

Your probably on some list now for even mentioning the Queen dying.

Just make sure to delete your browser history every time the doorbell goes, it's only a matter of time before it's the fuzz

Surely that was all written in times gone by, before the internet and rolling news?

It'll make next to no difference in my life, like the royal weddings it might be a good time to go out shopping if lots are watching it on the telly box.

I do hope it starts a discussion on massively scaling back the royal family and the huge inequality in this country with several families. With how much they own and keep passing down with inheritance.

Can't believe there are so many royalists on here. Wtf. Moaning about the entitlement and greed of YouTubers etc. but oh yeah the Queen, who lives in a fucking palace, is great... LOL.
The queen isn’t trying to pretend she does primark hauls and sell us shit at every opportunity. Nor is she taking advantage of filming her children every day. Not sure how you can even try and class it as the same thing??

The royal family also bring millions in revenue into our country via tourists. Because yes, even Americans ( contrary to one person above belief) flock to see Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, The Crown Jewels etc etc etc

Its something ive thought about after hearing that the bbc practice announcing her death. It will be strange as most people only know of having her as queen. I think the money will be slowly phased out but it will be weird having someone different on money, stamps, passports etc.

Of course she'll be mentioned on fox and there will be updates about how the family is coping, maybe even a live stream of her funeral but she's not our problem. We don't really care about her and she holds no status in our country. She will get some news coverage here and there for those who are interested but out of respect for the US as a whole, we're not going to stop our daily lives because the Queen died lmao. She's not going to stop traffic. She's not going to give us a national holiday, we'll still go to work and school like any other day haha. It's not like she's our president or holds any role in our government system.

I think Michael Jackson's death would probably be more publicly mourned in comparison to the queens.

Like I mentioned above, we're fascinated by them but if it's not Kate, William or Harry or Megjan we don't particularly like when they decided to visit the states because it wastes a lot of our money and they cause a lot of chaos in terms of traffic and public access. We find the system fascinating, not the individuals. It's safe to say ALL americans oppose the idea of a monarchy. Queens, Kings, Princesses belong at disneyland and that's it. I don't think anyone will flinch tbh.

I don't think any Brits were over the moon to shell out money to safeguard your pussy-grabbing joke of a president when he visited the UK either.

£3.5 million for London police duty alone.

I guess we can call it quits.

I'm American. So nothing will happen lol. We love Diana and Harry... William isn't our favorite brother but we have respect for him. We actually mourned Diana. We hate Charles and Camilla because of the Diana thing so one of their deaths will probably result to fireworks or something representing the disgust towards him, we're very vocal about who has our respect and who doesn't...because he doesn't have our respect if he died there would be some freedom of speech being practiced and dragging of the dead mans name.

HOWEVER: I think most of the US is indifferent to the queen. She's not adored but she's not hated. The Crown is kind of a popular show out here so there will most likely be some documentaries about her life, maybe some fox/abc 2020 coverage because people are curious but nothing will happen 😂 The world will go on...

As annoying as it is, when she dies depending on our national news coverage, if we're having a light news day in terms or politics, she will most likely cloud our media platforms for a few weeks.

Americans find that royal stuff more fascinating so I imagine very few people being emotionally impacted but there will definitely be a peak of interest in Queen Elizabeth's life and what she was like. We don't want a monarchy but we're curious about it because the rejection of a monarch is the root of our shared history. We tend to be more fascinated about the system VS the actual monarchs as people.

She will not be missed on any personal level but we will find her story fascinating.

EDIT: also, there isn't a lot of information on her personality or what she's like as a person? I think some of her own people are still confused about what she's like as a person so if you can imagine how distant she comes off to foreigners.
lol when she dies she it will be the top news story in America, same as if the President died it would be big news here still. Not sure why you're trying to brush it off as "she MIGHT get some Fox coverage". I have to laugh.

There isn’t any food rationing here, don’t worry yourself. The queen isn’t the only person still eating.

I mean let’s not talk about Clinton and his affair or the fact your country CHOSE to have Donald fucking Trump as president.
Can we also add that we Brits had one mass shooting and got rid of guns and yet the Americans have had hundreds and it's still going on 🤦‍♀️

Haha okay then. Go to Buckingham Palace and it’s full of American tourists outside. But sure. ‘All Americans oppose monarchy’

I know the code is 'london bridge is down' when she dies. I think that's for all the people who need to know.
Someone in the royal marines told me this so not sure if it's meant to be common knowledge 🙈
