WhatsApp group chat problem - is there a way to block?

I'm in a WhatsApp group with about 15 participants. Around 10 people are regular posters to the group, however there is one that I just have enough of. She posts constantly, hijack every conversations and turns everything around to be about her and her problems (for the record it's a hobby group, not a support type group. I'm sure everyone has the odd moan occasionally and that's fine, but that's not what the group is about)

So I blocked said poster, but for some reason I can still see absolutely everything she posts. I've blocked a couple of individuals on WhatsApp before, but never anyone in a group, so I'm wondering now if you're unable to block on a group unless your admin etc? (I'm not)
Has anyone blocked someone in a group chat before, and if so did it work or can you still see the person posting?

I don't think I'm the only one who's bothered by her as I've noticed that in general people seem to be posting a lot less in the chat. A new member was added last week and I felt sorry for the poor lady over the weekend. Obviously not knowing what she was getting into, she made the mistake of sympathising with the other poster when she was moaning on yet again. My phone was pinging every two minutes, so I muted the group for 8 hours. When I looked last night, there were 82 moaning posts from that poster!

I don’t think you can sadly, the admin would need to remove them from the group

You might have to just mute the chat on and off whenever the poster is particularly active

Or you could create a new group with the 14 participants you like and conveniently forget to add the poster you don't like to it? Hopefully if enough people are annoyed by the poster they might not say if there is a new group.

Or privately request admin to remove her but that might cause a bit of drama.
