Boots. If you asked me what my dream first job was at 13 this was it. Nailed the interview, first day... oh are you here for work experience? Rude! The woman who hired me went on holiday for two weeks didn’t she so nobody had a clue what to do with me. I just did what the staff told me to do and the next day the manager said I wasn’t doing what I was meant to be doing? Nobody told me you silly bint when I asked yesterday! I had to stand on the NYX counter which was new back then and I had no clue what I was doing. The women that work there are like a cult, if you’re not 50+ they basically hate you. My nan came in on my second day at lunch time and said “shall we just go?” I came home both days crying so she took me over the road to the M&S cafe for lunch and the next day I rang to say I wasn’t coming back because I passed away 🙂
Wasn’t expecting that last line😂

Cleaning caravans at a holiday resort when I was around 16/17 just for extra spending money.
Just the state people leave them in 🤢🤢. Food, rubbish, used nappies, sanitary products left out all on the side in full view.

Ah, Boots.

My previous examples of taking sick peoples houses off them is definitely my worst job but I also hated Boots.

Had worked in retail for a few years and a supermarket which was fine. Boots. I lasted 1/2 a shift. I was on the floor stocking something snd a manager came up to me, clicked her fingers, looked at my name badge and said “you girl, girl... YOU... do this”

I stood up, looked at her and said “excuse me, my name is MEH and is clearly on my badge” then went and got my coat snd bag and walked out. Still fills me with rage. I was 22/23 at the time.

You don’t speak to anyone like that and now, as a customer, if I overheard a manager doing that to an employee I’d make a scene.

Most of my retail jobs when I was 16-23 were pretty tit. Worst one was for a well known jeans company- we weren’t paid on commission but had individual targets to meet, sometimes they were just impossible. The manager could never remember what hours we could work, even though we all sent them via email and would regularly change our shifts without telling us then call us to ask why we weren’t at work. In one of the stores I worked in, the manager used to sit in the back office having phone sex on an evening with a guy she was cheating on her husband with.

A few years ago I worked for a company as a programmer and it was awful-no one would speak to me, no one would teach me anything and they’d play mind games with me all the time.

I was 17 and my first job was at Next in the children’s department. The staff were snobby and looked down on me, made me feel very uncomfortable. Expected me to know what I was doing without training and for one day I had to spend the entire shift stood at the door handing out baskets to customers 🙄 I lasted a month, just didn’t turn up for my next shift, they called me several times but I never answered 😂
I could have written that myself!! It was almost a given in my town that most 16 year olds fresh out of school would get a crappy 4 hour contract at the local Next store and hate it to the point of just never going back one day 🤣

Admin for a large recruitment agency. I was young. And most consultants were egotistical arseholes 😂 soon developed a personality to stand up to them. So when I did leave I literally called in and said “I’m leaving and this is my notice. The hard copy is in the post and until my end date I will be off sick”

I did the call centre thing during uni as well. Charities, banks, phone providers. I used to do the classic call centre thing of muting the phone to talk to people while there was dead air and once muted it to call the customer a bleep but didn't do it properly lmao. I will NEVER forget the "what did you call me?!" followed by having to escalate the call to my team leader and explain that I'd called the customer a bleep and she'd like to speak to a manager.
