And my conventional fan simply just pushes warm air at me 😅😢
Yeah, they are crap for the most part, but at least they provide enough relief needed. All of our public transport should have built in air-con. I know people will say "oh its only a few days of extreme heat" but in the near future it may not be "just a few days" of heat.

Here in southern Spain the temperature didn't drop below 29 degrees last night but the ceiling fan made it quite bearable. In the summer fans need to be going anti-clockwise to cool but in the winter they need to be going clockwise to push the heat from the fire down.
I don't understand the physics behind it but try reversing your fan 😎

Hottest ever night in France (since records started 70+ years ago)

It's strange the public health warnings they have had in the past about making sure a burger is cooked through, but little about the shock of cold water despite that always killing so many

This weather is making me unwell. Feeling sick, have a headache, no energy and so dizzy.

Southern Europe feels like a terrible place to go for the summer. With all the historical buildings so many places can never have AC.

Most of Italy has been peaking at over 30c for a week now, even Paris has been going above 40c. And that city struggles just as much as London in the heat.

I'd rather go to southern Europe in the autumn for some winter sun and cool nights.

So many parks and fields near me the grass is like daisy yellow, completely dead and like straw. All it takes is some idiot to drop a cigarette :(
Honestly I would welcome a week of rain but possibly if the ground is so dry it would mean floods? So maybe I welcome like short bursts of rain every day or so for a week to help a little. Forecast 30 again for Weds near me.

I remember hearing lots about this in the 90s; the melting ice sheets will lead to extreme cold winters with disrupting the flow of warm air.

It is scary, we went past a golf course yesterday which is all dry, with tall dry grass bordering it. It was like straw. Trees shedding branches and leaves, or just dead. A tinderbox waiting to go up.

I keep topping up the bird water fountain twice a day, so many birds desperate for a drink. Plus I've put little saucers of water around and there's all manner of insects drinking from them.

Irks me that there's data centres using massive amounts of water, yet I'm on a hosepipe ban and using grey water to keep my plants alive

This is the thing that I’m-really annoyed about - the data centres. it’s all “nothing to see here” meanwhile humans are restricted as to the water they can use. Thames Water can also get in the bin.

This happened near me the other day. Some kids were sat on the field messing around and the whole thing went up. Luckily it was put out before it reached the trees.

The world is literally on fire and it feels like we're just watching it burn. Its horrible.

Officials in Bordeaux have denied reports that they're planning for an evacuation of the whole city. Which makes me think they're definitely planning for it and waiting on the winds before issuing it.

It's still bone dry, fires out of control, no rain forecast and 37c.

It's been months of >30c during the day and >20c at night.

The climate has totally changed in a few years for southern Europe. It was usually a couple of weeks of this unbearable heat.

Really thinking I need to move hundreds of miles further north. It's not worth the months of interrupted sleep.

There's talk of their being wetter winters now. Floodings or droughts, choose one or maybe choose both it seems.

I live in Northern Italy, Piedmont. I was born and raised here and in my 48 years of living in this part of the country I have never experienced such high temperatures. I'm currently in Liguria, near Cinque Terre (by the way, very beautiful places, definetely worth a visit), and the sea in making you feel even hotter because of humidity!
