Just a thought, especially as its all over the news...........my own, personal view (other views are available) is that she wasn't as naive as would have had people believe, I believe she knew exactly what she was doing. She had advisors etc., and presumably had to give permission for the interview to be televised? That said, I don't think Martin Bashir is totally innocent......

Was it not the case that her personal secretary at the time didn't know about the interview until it had already happened? I was of the impression she had kept it under wraps intentionally.

I agree. Now older, looking back it seems like she manipulated the press and maybe others. As for books, TV shows, documentaries etc about deceased people I completely dismiss them as usually it's too benefit the person telling the story and as the other person can't tell their side, to me it invalidates it, just becomes an unverified story.

Diana knew what she was doing when she played with Bashir. I still remember her smirking during the sit down interview. When you get right down to it, she cut a far more sympathetic figure than the weak willed and pathetic Charles.
Also think she wasn’t prepared for the pushback but at the end of the day, she was a teenager married off by her family to some weirdo aristocrat who was in his thirties. In the latter half of the 20th century when we all should have known better. Excuse me, my republicanism is showing.
I imagine a whole bunch of Michael Jackson fans and Jackson Family bots might smell blood now and really push an investigation as payback for what happened to their idol too.
Not sure what has really kicked all of this off (most likely just the Netflix series reopening old wounds) but I imagine the Royal Family’s PR are going to be slightly more busy than usual in the coming weeks bullying journalists to make sure any anger is directed away from their employers.

Not much to add, as I don't know the ins and outs. But as a journalist (financial) I know it can be nigh on impossible to get an interview sometimes, and even the most junior of figures are protected from the press!
I think he could comment if he or the BBC wanted him to as he has been photographed coming home from a takeaway. At least he’s up and about and eating.
