Hi everyone,

I was wondering how everyone manages to dress themselves on a strict budget. I feel as though no matter how much I spend on clothes ie. hundreds, I never have enough of anything. Not enough outerwear, businesswear. I might replenish my summer wardrobe then find I don't have enough winter clothes..

Does anyone deal with the same thing or have any advice?

Do you not have enough clothes because you have to put them in the wash often ? I change into joggers and a tshirt as soon as I come home, so I'm only wearing my proper clothes when I'm out.
Sometimes I spot clean clothes, rather than putting them in the wash if they have only been worn briefly (especially kids school jumpers)

There is no shame in repeating your outfits. Consumerism has taught us to believe we need a vast quantity of clothes.

Pre -owned clothes can be a good idea if you are on a budget.

I personally manage by having a small amount set clothes for set things. Sounds really counterproductive but I find that having a staple wardrobe for each thing (e.g work, everyday, meal out, night out) means when I am buying/replacing I’m only replacing that thing. So for work I have 5 items of top clothing and 2 bottoms but I will only wear those to work and those are winter and summer clothes. In winter I will just layer them with long sleeves tops etc.

i also will only buy something if I can match it with at least 3 things in my wardrobe (shoes too). That way you avoid the one outfit cycle.

I would recommend finding the thing you either look good in or are comfy in, depends which is more important to you. For me it’s comfort so I will only buy stuff that I try on and am happy wearing so I tend to stick to the same things. I find that keeps buying down
