Not enough British people wanting to do caring/nursing jobs. A couple of the hospitals I've worked with go on recruitment campaigns to places like the Philippines to fill these roles.

Exactly!! So based on that, something has gone very wrong for people to not want to get in to those roles.

it’s all good saying that the different generations shouldn’t be at each others throats but the reality is that these parties will always target specific demographics and the other is likely going to get a bad deal as a result

You can blame the government of the day all you want for it but if you want some sort of unity the demographic in favour would probably have to go “actually this isn’t that big of a priority for me so I don’t mind” for anything to change

Exactly this! I don't agree with VAT increase on private schools and I don't like the whole "you cant define a woman" but currently the Tories haven't offered anything to make me want to vote for them

I've heard several interviews over the last few days - 1 of which stuck in my mind and has been confirmed locally by in the know Labour grandees.

Labour need to win around 120 seats - just to BREAK EVEN - not to win, to break even. Thats quite the ask.... and that came from someone who knows their shit so to speak. It is not as clear cut as the man in the street thinks. They are shitting bricks about tactical voting patterns as they are a known weakness of the opinion polls - your average tactical voter will flip flop like fun until the moment they are in the booth with pencil in hand and paper afore them.

Thats quite a useful site listing. Just clicked on my constituency and found out that a local lady is standing - don't share any common viewpoints with her politically BUT she lives in our village and unlike the incumbent and probably unshiftable Labour MP who has been shocking absent.... she can have my vote as she's got herself involved in stuff locally - unlike the MP who just breezes in like lady muck of shit farm for a photo and a fuck off.

Very disappointing no Plaid candidate in my area 🫤

Because one of the points about Right To Buy that people forget is that it stops (or at least limits) councils from directly replacing the houses they sell.

I can make the choice to see or not see a male GP. I don't have the choice not to share a space such as a domestic violence shelter or hospital ward with a male person if they are forced on me.

But they have to fit in with all the other posh people

To be fair, I have had some very very middle class friends tell me that their parents chose to have a bigger house over sending them to a private school. if you turn that around, it's a very small sacrifice a lot of people are making in the grand scheme of things

There's also massive differences in the quality of education if you're in a primarily middle-class area surrounded by private schools vs a working-class area that probably has a bunch of selective schools around too
