I had a really creepy experience in Brodick Castle in Arran. I went first with some friends and it was lovely. A couple of years later I was nearby with my mum and she likes a historic house too, so we went.

It felt completely different. The staff were doing something to the house and they had some of the doors into the hidden passages open. You know, the ones behind panelling and stuff, so flunkies could move around without being seen?

I’d normally find that really interesting, but it felt awful. I really, really didnt like it. I asked my mum if she did and she just said ‘ No. Let’s get out of here’.
I always get a really weird feeling in here regardless. Never going back and I've been 3 times, each time the same

Not a ghost story but today is the year anniversary of the death of a close family member.
I was driving to the shop and theres sometimes a lag on the car radio but usually resolves itself quite quickly. Anyway, we'd been driving for about a minute, the radio was either off or volume turned right down then all of a sudden, turns itself on, volume super loud and the song that is playing is the funeral song of this person. It was the middle of the song so cant have just been a quiet bit before the song started.
It was that loud and that random I thought it was my partner playing it on his phone through the car.
Here's to hoping its them watching.

It probably was. I was at a spiritualist church my friend took me to. A woman was asked if she was having problems with her car radio. She said yes, it kept going out of tune from the channel she had it on, and it was most annoying!
The psychic said it was her late husband trying to tune it to a better channel.
He obviously didn't like her taste in music.😁

I went to see a medium earlier in the week as part of a large group. The lady didn't actually approach people but said who was with her and people raised their hands.

She said at one point I have a Lizzie (my paternal grandmother's name) and I didn’t raise my hand as I didn't want the attention tbh. She then said oh well she just wants you know know she's spending time with Trevor (my fathers name) but Trevor's still alive. *I've changed the names but both are less generic.

I am sceptical but still a little blown away that she would put those two names together randomly. I don't think I'll tell my dad as he's in his 80s himself and quite an emotional person. But food for thought!.

Did you have to provide your name/address or sign up for the event? I’m always very sceptical of people who claim to be ‘mediums’.

I went to see the Uncanny: Fear of the Dark show a couple of weeks ago and it was excellent. We did the meet & greet as my son is a big fan and felt that Evelyn seemed in a bad mood (as someone else mentioned up thread) and didn’t smile at all. She was very good on stage though.

The only unexplained thing that has happened to me was when I was sitting in my parents’ lounge one night after they had gone to bed. I was in my early 20s, so can remember this very clearly.

I was sitting on the sofa reading the paper, when my mind started wandering about an account I’d read about a television turning itself on in the context of a haunting and thinking it must have been bull because it can easily be ascribed to the TV being on standby and an electrical surge. Suddenly, the TV in the lounge switched on and completely freaked me out. My parents were paranoid about house fires and always unplugged/switched off every electrical appliance before going to bed. Sure enough, when I went over to the tele, it was switched off at the mains.

I turned it off using the button and tried to switch it on again, but of course it wouldn’t switch on…because it was switched off at the mains.

Wow that's crazy, it's almost as if you willed it in to being!.

I just provided an e mail address for the tickets. Nothing identifiable in my e mail address. I suppose they would have my name from the payment but I don't do any social media fb etc.

There were some eye roll moments like saying to a woman with a strong southern accent 'I sense links to the south' !!. But then she said to one lady 'oh you put this item in your mother's coffin' and the lady said she'd never told anyone that. Jury's still out for me.

Maybe it’s on a spectrum…some things do come through to those willing to tune in, but they also pad it out with fluff bc it’s unpredictable

I have very mixed feeling about mediums. Most are balls and money grabbing charlatans but some do make you sit up and take notice.

I think I've posted on here before about the worst one I ever saw who resorted to 'has anyone bought any shoes recently?' ... It made my sister in law snort laugh and she had to leave the room. 🤣 🤣

The last time I went to see a medium (recommended by the friend who came with me) each time she came up with random names, I answered no. I was poker-faced throughout because I really wanted her to come out with something which was not generic. Unfortunately she did not come out with anything unusual. I recorded some of the session also, which she agreed I could do.

I am generally a very private person and never post my life on Facebook, but I do now wonder if this is where some of them get their information from. It is very easy to glean even the basic information about a person on that platform, so I think that they must see the name booked in and get to work being detective! 😂

I have only seen one medium who came up trumps with anything concrete about my life and that was 40 years ago. Unfortunately, there are too many who see it as a fast buck to make and honestly, I could not live with myself to be trampling on other people’s grief and sorrow.

I went to watch a medium a couple of years ago, was one with a big audience so I didn’t get a message or anything. However at the end there was a bit where she said she had spoken to this woman’s late husband and presented her with a bunch of flowers at his request. I had been speaking to someone about it a couple of weeks after and she said oh I went to see one (a different one) and the same thing happened.

I thought the one I had went to watch was good but they must just all follow the same old trope.

There used to be a wonderful old lady in our town who used to read the Tarot cards. It was before the days of social media, and she always used to say to bring a friend with you so they could write down what she was telling you; she also used to only charge £20 for a reading which was a lot less than anyone else locally.

I went to see her when I was in the process of splitting up with my long-term partner, and she described both him, and what had happened in great detail, all of which my friend wrote down. I kept the notes of my reading in the glove compartment of my car, and as soon as he bought me out the house, I moved abroad. He phoned me a few weeks after I left to say he'd found a buyer for my car, and wanting to know what on earth the description of him was in the glove box, and where it had come from as it was so accurate, he was a very complex person, and I'd forgotten it was in the glove box when I left. He was so impressed with it that he went and had a reading with her.

I came back for a few weeks to visit family about a year later, and booked another reading with her, and she told me that I would shortly be meeting a man that I would marry. She described the man, and said he was quite a bit younger then me, and I told her that I had no interest in meeting anyone, especially if they were a lot younger. Three weeks later, I met my now husband who is 10 years younger than me, and we've been together for 21 years. I recognised him from her description of him when I first met him.

Where can we find this woman?!

I have never tangled with mediums, but my dad died recently and made contact through a very close family friend of ours a few months ago, when she went to see a medium. The message was very strong, insistent and comforting (she recorded the session and sent it to us). I don't know how mediumship works, but I can imagine my dad elbowing his way to the front of queue to get his message to us. Great for us, but possibly a bit disappointing for the friend who was trying to speak to her nan...

Another thing this (recent) medium mentioned to me was she said I was psychic, that I had the gift. She said I should hone it and go to spiritual classes. Something tells me that she realised I had a poker face throughout and that she wasn’t getting anywhere with me so she either thought that she could butter me up at the end of the session, or she thinks I would make a great medium bullshitting all and sundry as my face would not give the game away. 😂😉

Either way I was less than impressed.

But, I am very intuitive and sensitive to my surroundings and people. So she could have picked up on that.

I do feel sorry for vulnerable people who cling onto the hope of hearing from their loved ones. I find that the whole mediumship business is a sickening one, there are far too many charlatans outweighing the brilliant ones.

😲
I posted on this thread about my TV turning itself on after I'd watched an 'Uncanny' involving a television.
Spooked the tit out of me.
I don't think I've got the 'gift' or anything remotely like that but I think some people are just more attuned to other things going on - notice them.
Also I've wondered about the mind being a sort of portal for some people (I know this sounds barmy) for either nice or nasty things. For instance I could never watch anything very scary or torture films - it gets in my head so much and it seems wierd things can happen. I can't really explain it logically.

I've been told I'm a "sensitive," that's why I supposedly picked up on the spirits? ghosts? in my house.
I put it down to my heart beating so fast when I was really ill - that I got up to the same energy as "the other side" and that's why the little boy spirit/ghost tried to communicate with me.
I've been asked by some visitors if my house was haunted, whereas other people couldn't sense anything wrong. They are people who aren't sensitive it turns out.
It isn't an old house either. The worst happened 10 years after the house was built.
The medium who the next door neighbour got round said don't even bother moving as you'll probably meet up with the ones in your next house. At least you know the ones here! 😁🙄

I do feel it’s true that certain people will never see or feel a presence around them because they are not sensitive or tuned into that type of frequency.

i think that’s why some people believe in the paranormal and others just totally dismiss it, because they have never experienced it. I have experienced the paranormal and others few times in my life and seen a ghost (although at the time of seeing him, I just thought he was solid as you or I, there was no shadowy figure or anything of that nature and so it wasn’t until some time after the event, I came to the conclusion I had seen a ghost - this was later corroborated by the people who lived in the house).

I feel special that I have experienced the paranormal and feel chosen. But, I really dislike mediumship as I feel it ultimately it tarnishes the whole idea of people embracing the paranormal. Too many charlatans for my liking.

I don't dislike mediums. Just the charlatans.
The medium the neighbour got was a good person. She was so normal - no woo woo.
It was nice to be believed as the incident with the little boy was rather scary.
My gut feeling is really good about people.
I once came into the vicinity of a murderer and started feeling cold and sick. Then someone pointed him out and I realised why.
He went on to murder other girls (yes, they let him out 🤬🙄) and was caught getting his next victim ready for her execution. Makes me shudder just thinking about it.
