Has anyone done any kind of paranormal event, ghost walk etc in York? I watched Charlie and Daisy May Cooper's show last night filmed in York and I was there recently but didn't actually realise it had such a reputation for the paranormal. I'd love to go back and do an organised tour or something.
One of my favourite stories ever comes from there about the timeslip in the 70’s I think? If you haven’t read it I certainly suggest it. York is genuinely one of the most creepy cities at night I’ve been in, I don’t live far from there so always travel home rather than stay over. Dungeons are great too! Golden Fleece is the most haunted pub apparently…there are so many stories but the timeslip is easily the best.

Has anyone here ever been to a place that was either reputed to be haunted or where they felt a presence?
Chillingham castle, my partner reacted to something in the dungeon and we had to leave. As soon as we were back in the courtyard he was fine and all the other supposedly haunted rooms he was fine.

Bridgend never felt any different to other South Wales towns to me but I only lived there after the events you referenced.

The house of terror in Budapest one of the cells in the basement was colder than the others and felt unpleasant in a way the others didn't. They were used by the Nazis and KGB so probably all had their share of horrendous events.

I remember reading something a psychic said. She somehow got involved with the case of a girl. I think everyone thought the young girl had gone mad. Turned out she was actually psychic and couldn't control her gift, so was frightened to death of what she was experiencing in her head.
The girl had gone to hospital for an appointment and had picked up the residual energy of all the trauma that had been there.
I've been told of psychologists/psychiatrists having the gift themselves. Maybe it was that and one of them was around and knew what was happening with the girl. She was making a lot of noise, she was so frightened, so probably drew a lot of people's attention.
What I'm trying to say is maybe that's what we're picking up in these places - the residual energy - and they're not all haunted. 🤔

So I’ve been on the ghost tour in the Vaults too but didn’t feel any of that, to the point I stood in the stone circle that had some sort of premise about witchcraft I’m sure. It only felt creepy because of the stories being told, or maybe I’m just not in tune with that kind of thing.

Enjoy Uncanny! I went a week ago and loved it. Danny is super engaging, Kieran comes across really well too it was more Evelyn was like she was in a bad mood but still brilliant nonetheless. Just hope your audience stories aren’t as bad as mine were!

Ive stood in the stone circle too and felt absolutely nothing 🤣 ive done the vaults a few times and one person had to leave once because they were so terrified. I think it depends who does the tour. The last one I did we stood in dark room with no light for a minute and I was terrified 🤣

I'd love to go to Chillingham Castle, we were going to do the Halloween ghost hunt but by the time we sorted numbers it was fully booked. I always think of it as the most haunted place in Britain and would love to see if I feel anything there!

For those who did the Edinburgh vaults, did you go to Greyfriars Kirkyard? That can be spooky, with a really interesting history.
Some Harry Potter names buried there although JK said it's coincidental.

I can’t remember if it was there I went, but I remember being on a ghost tour in Edinburgh when I found out the true meaning of what a graveyard shift is, I just thought it was the nightshift not about the people listening for people incorrectly buried ringing a bell to say they’re alive!

I’ve been but went during the day so wasn’t spooky at all. There’s the famous Thomas Riddell grave that everyone takes a photo of. I swear JK has said that it inspired her for the name? It just seems too coincidental not to be given that Riddell/Riddle isn’t a common surname at all.

Greyfriars does have a really weird feeling about it. I have been in the vaults too, was actually one of my early dates with my partner. I felt something brush my leg and I was right at the back of the group so no one was behind me. I couldn’t stop thinking about it when I came out because it was quite a strong sensation.

I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of ghost experiences are actually some kind of residual energy, recorded and replaying in a certain location in certain conditions!

I mentioned about this before where I finally got an explanation for something I saw. Was told it was an "imprint". So the hands I saw going into my bag in the hall were actually someone going into a cupboard that used to be there. It was explained as think of how many times you open a certain door in your life - that leaves energy, and one day someone might see you opening a door many years later, but the door is no longer there.
Maybe imprint is another word for residual energy. 🤔

Yes! I mean I don’t know how it would work, but if energy can’t be made or destroyed, it has to go somewhere!

Bad as in scary or not very good? I went last month and thought it was great. Think the three of them work so well together! Mind you, I was a big Most Haunted fan back in the day so maybe my standards aren’t the highest!!

I feel you guys won't necessarily judge me for what I'm about to write but I'm really conflicted.
This year my family have had a lot of loss. Ive lost 3 close family members. One as close as August.

Anyway... the day one of my relatives died, a dragonfly came into the house. Literally 30 minutes after their passing. Coincidence? Maybe.
Ive seen robins, foxes, deer but all stuff i can explain away.

However, a few weeks ago, I asked them to send me a purple dinosaur. Sounds stupid but i thought id give it a go. Saw nothing for ages. Forgot about it. Then walked into a shop to find a huge purple dinosaur bedside table lamp on sale at the entrance.
Then today, Ive been feeling so meh about christmas. Not sure if i should be celebrating or anything.
Anyway, I asked for one of them to send me a song, just to see if anything happened. Turned on my car, not thinking anything. And the funeral song of my relatives was playing as I turned it on. And its not a common song.

My grandmother died this week, as my sister and I sat holding her hand before she passed, I saw a weird, very dark, fast moving smudge type shadow on the wall the bed was against. Said to my sister, don’t want to freak you out but…she said I know, it went up towards the bed head! There was no shadow that could have cast that dark a shadow in that position, nor move that fast.

The night before I had a weird visitor dream (context; my family are known for odd dreams featuring dead relatives before or just after another member passes) set in my grandmothers house, a little being (I knew it wasn’t human) appeared with a big bottle of medicine smiled and ushered me to the living room, my auntie (still alive which threw me) appeared but at the same time I knew it wasn’t her but one of these beings, my grandmother behind her. My auntie/not really said come on time to go, pulled my grandmother behind the door and I woke up. I was telling my husband and son the next morning saying it wasn’t a proper visitor dream as auntie is still alive. Literally a minute later the phone rang with my mum saying my grandmother’s care home had called and we needed to get up there quickly as she’d taken suddenly very unwell.

So sorry for the loss of your grandmother. Really interesting the dreams seem to run in your family.

Felt nothing . I actually did a ghost hunt there for my friend’s birthday 😅😅😅I think it started at 10:00pm

I had a really creepy experience in Brodick Castle in Arran. I went first with some friends and it was lovely. A couple of years later I was nearby with my mum and she likes a historic house too, so we went.

It felt completely different. The staff were doing something to the house and they had some of the doors into the hidden passages open. You know, the ones behind panelling and stuff, so flunkies could move around without being seen?

I’d normally find that really interesting, but it felt awful. I really, really didnt like it. I asked my mum if she did and she just said ‘ No. Let’s get out of here’.
