Had the above procedure yesterday 😫 and it got me thinking of when I was a youngster and having to get teeth removed due to overcrowding!
It wasn’t a case then of numbing the area as they do now, but I was put to sleep! Would this have been normal then, I would have been around say 10? Not giving my age away, but I’m nearer 60 than 50 🤨
Did anyone else experience this?

Oh yes! Had 4 taken out under GA. I then had 5 (4 because of overcrowding and one was wobbly) out under local

They haven't said anything but I won't be that shocked if my wisdom teeth need to be pulled - ones impacted and there's not enough room for the others

My grandfather would tell me that his grandfather's era did dental this way: the dentist would come to town and set up in the 'main square' or what have you. People would flock to be seen and if there was treatment like extraction done, there would be a band playing music to cover for the screams.

This is deep in Victorian era England.

I am so glad I was born in 1983, at least when it comes to dentistry! :ROFLMAO: (although it's now been truly ducked over by several successive governments, duck you)

My mum remembers laughing gas. She reckoned it didn't work on her and she was terrified as a kid. This was late 1950s/early 1960s. Having her tonsils removed was a particularly traumatic experience :(

I am over 60 I have never been knocked out for any dental procedures

The dentist i had as a child loved pulling teeth to make room for braces. My mum insisted I go to a dental hospital to be knocked out after the horror of the first one being removed with no numbing. Screamed the whole time. And the bleeping witch took a canine out. Teeth look ridiculous now 😂

Was this dentist the one from Little Shop of Horrors? ;)
