The money thrown into the Trevi fountain is collected every Monday and goes to feeding Rome’s poor communities. They collect around 4,000euro a week.

When you see a product saying 'genuine leather' it's not stating that it's real. Genuine is the quality level (and is actually one of the lowest quality levels). 😯

There are two tiny islands (Mauritius and Réunion) very close to one another in the Indian Ocean and one of them, Réunion, suffered 16% of the world’s fatal shark attacks between 2011-16 while the other doesn’t have any trouble with sharks even though both are on a “shark highway”.

For anyone that’s interested, a number of reasons have been suggested e.g. muddy waters around Réunion attracting sharks more likely to attack humans (bull & tiger), hunting sharks being banned in Réunion but not in Mauritius, overfishing drawing sharks closer to land in search of food.

Probably the most interesting reason to me is that because Réunion is geologically younger, as a volcanic island the rise to its shores is steeper rather than a long plain of shallows. That makes it easier for the bull/tiger sharks to get there as they are more comfortable in deep water.

Through an amazing lady on Tiktok who works in a crematorium, I found out that "early non viable human tissue" is treated with respect, and not dumped in an incinerator. Apologies if this upsets anyone, I didn't want to write the actual words because I don't know how to put things behind a spoiler. This small act gave me a tiny bit of peace 💔❤

When my child learned to wave, they’d wave at absolutely everyone. It used to piss me off the amount of old bastards that wouldn’t acknowledge them. They were a baby.
I know not everyone likes kids but not everyone likes old people and can still manage to be polite.

Iv noticed people are so rude. When I do the school run I smile at all the mums- none smile back. I saw a woman and her little boy today at tesco, she dedicated recognised me and gave sort of a half smile, while I smiled and actually acknowledged her and said hi.
I don't know why I bother being friendly, I'm not going to bother anymore!
I say this ALLLL the time, people are so rude/miserable. .. I drive for a living, I stop and let people cross, I give way for people, I always merge in turn etc and rarely does anyone give a thanks gesture.
Baffles me, manners cost nothing

That it's no longer socially-acceptable to smile at / greet a stranger as you pass them by whilst out for a walk 🙁

For the thinking-it’s-Friday-but-it’s-actually-Thursday people: I once spent the majority of a year thinking (and telling people) I was a year younger than I was (not intentionally). It wasn’t until my sister happened to overhear me sharing my age with someone and informing me that I was actually a year older 😂

....that loitering around the freezers at your local supermarket is a free and fantastic way to cool down on a day like today.

Learned recently that people with dementia have trouble drawing clocks (Google dementia clock test)
After my mum had a stroke that was one of the things she had to do - there was a whole sheet of questions and tasks. They were the sort of thing that a 10 year old would find easy. It was absolutely heart-breaking watching my clever mum's confusion.

That forgetting about someone who’s hurt you is possible, by not having contact for at least 2 weeks & to fill up your thoughts everyday with other people such as other close friends, saying hi to old friends who I’ve not had contact in months or years or even people you see on the street coz they matter more than this 1 particular person. It just worked for me and I feel so much at peace
