To start us off, these cake shop sheds who keep posting about people stealing stock. Surely they all arent being robbed? Seems a strange coincidence theyre all suddenly being targeted this week 🤔

It's pity marketing or whatever they call it. "Oh pwease buy my ickle cakes (made with no consideration for food hygiene), those nasty big boys stole from me!!!!!"

I keep seeing people buying food of off Facebook, tbf some of it looks amazing but I could never buy anything someone's prepared at home where you dont know their hygiene practices (I won't even buy off vinted if the seller has clutter in the background/dirty carpets etc 🫢).

Also doing the exchange in a morrisons car park, all seems a bit seedy.

If I don’t see a hygiene rating of 5 (on the ratings website, not on an easily forged window sticker) I’m not eating it!

Fully agree. I wont even buy from the M&S bakery if I'm either not there on opening or there as theyre putting it out

Surely you're asking for trouble leaving cake unattended in a cake shed? I'm surprised more of them aren't robbed tbh or at least underpaid! Can't trust anyone these days!

Cake Sheds - people moaning about councils cottoning on and wanting them to pay licences. Not one of these spanners is properly registered with councils and had the full Environmental Health inspection. You have to register 28 days before opening with the council as a business, then get the inspection. Dont even get me started on the likelihood of them being HMRC registered either.

Oh, and the fact the landlords (if renting) have to give permission, the insurance companies have to give permission (they wont) and you need public liability insurance and have to undertake ALL the H&S training so you dont poison someone.

One I saw yesterday thinks they have found a workaround by making ppl pay upfront and putting a lock on it (presumably pin activated). No you thick pillock.

I had to mute the word "shed" as I was fuming as someone trying to find proper business premises and struggling because commercial estate agents are even worse than domestic.

It’s so weird, I genuinely hadn’t heard of the concept of a cake shed two months ago, when all of a sudden one has appeared around the corner from me, and I’ve seen at least two others in the local area advertising themselves on FB. It’s like bakers up and down the country had the same idea all at once.

Luckily the one near me is a proper home based business and has been trading for years now, five star hygiene rating etc. I do worry about the honesty box system though. Most people ARE honest but you only need one hole to steal everything and ruin it for everyone.

I’d never heard of a cake shed until about two weeks ago and I’ve never seen one. Are they really that common?

It's probably old fashioned of me to think this way but I am really shocked at how completely normalised begging for money has become.

Not just that, but TikTok is riddled with people who not only beg but are so rude it is unfathomable that they get any donations... but they do. Though all throughout their Begtok video they are rough, mean, acting like they are doing 'their public' a favour by logging on and asking for money. It is so friggin' weird.

But it's not just TT, begging online is everywhere.

I do feel different toward people who are asking for help with things like medical bills or pet care because they've got in over their head through no fault of their own, they are not what my rant is about.

It's that it seems completely socially accepted for people to go and ask strangers online for money but they they will still show off their nice car, latest phone, Amazon hauls. I just don't get it. I was brought up to understand that if you want something you have to work for it. Begging was not viewed kindly even in actual emergencies! Is that a dead concept now or has being too much online distorted my view like I bloody hope it has :ROFLMAO:

To add, my post was inspired by someone asking about this on Facebook. RIght away they were told "just be kind" even though they were perfectly pleasant and polite in their post... sigh.

There are some people in genuinely bad situations, but in my experience those aren't the people who are the most aggressive and lean hardest on the guilt tripping.

There's a certain section of social media that just breeds entitlement "I'm xyz, so I deserve to be given things", "I shouldn't have to work, other people need to fund my life", "I make lazy videos so I should live a life of luxury like these other influencers" etc. etc.

And, people enable this by actually donating. Influencers, celebrities and even just random people want to be seen to be "doing good" by giving money to these things, so it encourages more people to shake the begging bowl on the off chance they strike it lucky.

People just seem to have abandoned logic and common sense in favour of some corrupt concepts of "empathy" and "goodness".

I saw a post telling people not to donate to these Gaza begging messages because they're all scams (which they are) and donate to Oxfam/Red Cross/Red Cresecent or the like if they want to help.

The comments were full of "So what if it's not really a person from Gaza, whoever did is probably just a poor person desperate for money anyway!" and "I'd rather my money go to a scam than I didn't try to help anyone!". They wouldn't be told, even when the OP patiently explained that scams like this often fund organised crime and terrorism.

I am getting a bit sick of seeing lots of people changing their profile pics where they are sitting down wearing a white shirt, ripped light blue jeans, white nail varnish on both fingers and toes. I presume it is some AI thing but as usual the sheeple all follow suit.

It's really ruined entertainment and special events for me. I can't watch any of this stuff anymore, it's become disgustingly narcissistic and there's a real elite vs plebs vibe about things like this now, is it just me?
