Popcorn. Stinks of wee and costs silly money for a bucket of air and flavouring.
And related to that, I work at a theatre and HATE that we have to sell popcorn. Is it not possible to watch a show without rummaging in a bucket of popcorn? When did theatre become the cinema? Our poor front of house team spend so much time hoovering and sweeping whole tubs of bloody popcorn up after kids shows - panto is literally hell.

When I rule the world, eating ANYTHING in the theatre except in the bar area, will be outlawed. Seriously, I hate it. I left a show in London at the interval, last year, mostly because of the people in front of me with a huge bag of food - one they brought in btw - with sandwiches and whatever else. It was as if they thought they were at a picnic, with the passing back and forth of food, and the resulting chomping and crackling noises, and of course the loud whispering. Aaaaaaargh.
Also why do people think it's acceptable to throw their rubbish on the floor in the theatre! Would they do that at home? I'd guess not.
You're so right! Eating during a show is bizarre to me. And don't get me started on the rubbish left behind. Our ushers go round with binbags during the interval and stand there at the doors with a binbag at the end of the show, but people will still leave their rubbish on the floor like entitled people. With kids shows nappies are quite often left behind on the floor, which is just disgusting.I hate popcorn too, the smell of it, ugh.

I like popcorn but I've never understood why such a noisy/messy thing became the thing tk eat in a film. Its the worst thing I could imagine
Movies and ott shows nowadays. The scene is always shot in dark and bunch of wibbly-wobbly camera pans in and out of scenes from different angles. I have heard beautiful views on new series Adolescence but cannot sit for more than 10 mins because the uncut unedited single scene shot..it started getting irritating.
Horror films. It's getting into horror season now, just as I've got time to go to the cinema more.

Yeh I agree, I live jn a block of flats and lots of people treat the space for the bins similarly. No respect for the people who have to clean up after themYep, very possible, of course.

This blew my mind when I first went to the UK. Not just a bottle of water to take inside but full on snacks and everyone carrying popcorn buckets etc. I don't mind enjoying a drink quietly but I think it's disrespectful to the actors/dancers when the audience is munching on mouthfuls of crunchy/smelly food throughout a live performance.
This has crept in over the years and it really pisses me. Genuinely one of the reasons I never go to the theatre anymore.
You were always able to buy a seriously overpiced bag of Malteses/Fruit Pastiles/Minstrels from the kiosk in the foyer and then a seriously overpriced ice cream during the interval but this business of literally taking your dinner in is just nuts.
I love a cinema snack but crunchy or hot food just seems like the wrong etiquette to me. I do think people are blurring home and public boundaries more than ever - I have seen a family arrive in their pyjamas and unfurl blankets during a film showing.
