I've only ever seen middle aged women so don't think I can help much but I would probably suggest seeing a therapist that you can relate to. I'm a woman so I would only see a female therapist
I’ve seen three therapists, two were older women and one was a woman a year or two older than me. I felt a much better connection with the one who was around my age because I felt they were able to relate to what I was talking about - the first therapist I saw would always give me examples relating to mothers and as I’m not a parent it all felt a bit bizarre!

Haha okay, so maybe the mid-forties woman I was considering might not be great? I think I’m going to have to “date” a couple of therapists. I used to go straight for older people because they have lived through so much. I am not sure that their experience will be as helpful anymore in the age of tinder.
