Thankyou. She isn’t a pure breed, I think she’s a mixed breed but I think she has some Maine Coon features. She’s definitely got the tail and love for water. I had her from a lady who didn’t know what breed her mother was, she just said it was her pet cat and knew nothing about cats. Would love to know more about her breed though. I live in the UK and there are no such rules here that I am aware of. As she is used to being an indoor cat, she doesn’t go any further than the back garden.

I am also in the UK and it’s part of the breeders list of conditions that Ragdolls are house cats only, that we had to sign before being given the kittens, but I do know people let them out just wondered if Maine Coons came under the same rules.

Hopefully this doesn't sound too daft but my cat likes to flick her litter which is fine as it's easily hoovered up. But about 4 times now I've found a tiny spec of fresh poo outside the box - is this something to worry about or is it likely linked to the fact she likes to flick litter and so when she's doing her business a bit flicks out?
No other accidents anywhere so I don't think she's missing the box!

When I was buying litter I was getting the sainsburys wood litter but Since Nala has been a full time outside cat I’ve but had to buy any for months, although still have a box incase. As for dry food she has either sainsburys or Tescos. I did have to but her some furball food the other month (in bed n csnt remember the name lol) I mix that in her food. She eats whiskers jelly pouches but as she doesn’t drink water I get a bit of water the pouch to ger the last bit out n she gets water that way.

I don't use clumping litter, our vet told me it can cause health problems as it 'clumps' in the cats stomach if they ingest it when they clean themselves.
I use the one made of old paper. It doesn't really hide the smell but it sweeps up ok and my three seem to like it.

We have two three year old fountains never had any bother cleaned and empty each time filters changed each month never been any bother, complain to Amazon they should replace or refund.

The one I have bought recently is from pets at home. Not sure what the rules are regarding taking back. In the 6-7 weeks I have had the fountain it must have leaked at least 3 times . I have changed the filter in the meantime and the pump thing is set to open . So I don’t know why it’s happening. It’s not even just a bit of water - I think it’s the majority of the water that is inside.

It seems to be the water is over flowing from rbe flower at the top of the fountain and then coming over the side of the fountain.

Cat pee’d on my spare room bed, it went through the bedding & 2 mattress protectors. Accidentally cleaned the mattress with bleach Then realised I shouldn’t have used bleach. Any idea on what to do now. I sprayed it with the cleaner used for cat litter boxes and then soaked the spot with a cup of water. I’ve opened the windows in the rooms upstairs. Just don’t know if I should clean it with something else as well? I doubt it soaked into the mattress much as it had quite a few layers it went through before the mattress. And how long I should stay out of the room for?! Anyone have ideas

I had a week try of tails ( the cat version can’t remember the name sorry) it was stews, pate etc and Nala couldn’t get enough of it! Could t afford to keep it up! So back to her normal food but I have been gettin her the little tins of weekends lol she had the Lilly’s Xmas dinners!

Shes got a covered tray but she's got quite long legs so (not that I watch her!) I think she's got some power on it or she doesn't go far in. I might try getting a flap box eventually if it continues!

I think this is the perfect place to ask advice we are getting our first kitten in a few weeks and looking for anything you recommend to buy? I have a list of everything I need to buy but any specific must haves or any advice? I'm sooo excited eek

Ooh, I'm excited too! Lots of kitty litter and maybe some plasters. Kittens have sharp claws and teef!

Ours are Ragdolls and they don’t grown out of the toddler stage for a couple of years lol but I am sure our tabby cat settled before she was a year old but she was on her own then. Good luck with kitty the stage will pass honestly.

Unfortunately they have to come into the house to get the dogs as one of them isn’t totally keen on walking with “strangers” (even though she sees them frequently) it means they walk past my room where the cat normally hangs out

I’ll move the dog leashes down by the door and see if that at least reduces the amount of traffic on the days the dogs are feeling a bit more cooperative and come to the doors themselves though. Haven’t thought of that so thank you!

have you tried feliway plug ins ? they can reduce anxiety (doesn't work in all cats though)

Hi does anyone have any advice. My kitten recently started to get very angry when brushing her - she’s fine for her back/head but her belly and back end she hates.
She doesn’t clean her back end very well which makes this a nightmare as she hates me trying to clean it. I have some towel off shampoo which I can just about manage whilst she’s growling.
I originally just made her finish the groom no matter how angry she got but I soon realised that’s not the way I should’ve gone about it and should’ve let her calm down and done it slowly. So that’s what I’m trying to do now.
I’ve made a bit of progress today doing her belly whilst she was settled sleeping and that was fine. Even her back end when she was happy and purring for strokes.
I’ve been letting her move around so she feels safer whilst brushing her and giving her treats during or after. Although most of the time I feel she doesn’t have enough of a groom but I hope once she feels better about it she’ll have a better groom.
Just the main issue which will set me back is what to do about her back end as she often smells/wet/gets some litter stuck in her fur. I think I’m going to just have to clip her back end a bit to try and prevent this.

this sounds so minor, but how do I stop my 16 week old kitten attacking (not exaggerating) my head and back to get to my hair. I'm currently sat with a beanie and my hair tucked in so she can't get it. I'd appreciate any tips at this point. I have a back full of holes and scratches from her claws, she fully pounces and then climbs my back whenever I'm least expecting it and I can't wear a hat/beanie 24/7. PLEASE HELP I'm laughing but I don't actually find it funny it's painful.

I'd suggest calling a vet, just to ask what your options are. I used to have a half-feral cat who was violent and aggressive, I called the local vet and he was given a series of medication to help him calm down.
Is your kitten de-sexed? That could be part of the problem as well although it's usually a male cat thing. It could be you just need to re-train her not to go near your hair. Gosh, I do sympathise with you, kitten claws are sharp as hell!

Okay this might be the wrong thread but just looking for some advice!
I have a resident hedgehog who comes by every night and i put cat food out for him. Over the last couple of weeks, a cat has been coming by and helping itself to the food, so I’ve started putting extra out. The bowl is just outside my French windows, so we can see each other.
The cat comes to my garden multiple times a day but if it spots me in daylight hours, it won’t go near the food and runs away. At night, it is happy enough to eat the food as long as I don’t move too much and don’t make too much eye contact (slow blinks are okay).
The cat is clearly very hungry because it always Wolfs the food and if I put anything else out, it’s gone by the morning.
I’m a real cat lover and this little guy seems to be a stray as it’s so wary of me, but I want to know if anyone has suggestions for anything I can do to get it to trust me? I know it’ll be a long haul and take several months/weeks but I’d like for it to be able to come and eat every day without thinking I’m going to attack just because I’m nearby!

You'll just have keep doing what you're doing, like you said it will take a while. Maybe put a dish of water out there as well if there's none nearby?
