Legal fees and house for them or Kendra?

photos won't load for some reason, hopefully they do for everyone else.
Photo is a go fund me from the cadwell family asking for help with legal fees and housing
From an article on Parade
:
According to public records, Joseph and Kendra sold a property to Paul and Christina for $10,000 in July 2021.

In a jail call made to Joseph on Mar. 25, Kendra said that “my family said they’re moving out in a month and everybody is going to hold them to it.”

Kendra did not specify why her parents and siblings were moving out.

I get most of my Duggar news from Reddit but I feel like they're skirting arpund a lot of what they are thinking. What do people think is going on with evicting the Caldwells from the house, given that people think the victim is one of her sisters? I dont get what people think is going on. It seems crazy that kendra was happy on the phone call about her family being evicted. Does she need the house for money, for somewhere to live? Or is it about a break with her family? But why would she be happy about it if it involves her sister being molested by her husband :( help me out pls!

I have to say the people in these religions especially the women seem to live horrendous lives with no choice or say in anything that happens to them and its absolutely covered in secrecy with a lot of horrible stuff going on behind the scenes :( they are not a good advert for Christianity at all

It makes me wonder what went down before the arrest as the Caldwells were selling stuff on line saying they were moving.

Remember, none of these women or children are victims in the eyes of the Quiverfulls. They're ultimately the ones responsible for lowering these godly men into a place of sin.

So, while I can't explain any of this eviction business, I can just say that understanding anything these people do has to be about understsnding the mental gymnastics the cult performs in order to blame the victims and protect the offending males.

Total speculation but I'd guess that Kendra and Joe see it as a total betrayal. These issues are supposed to be handled 'in house' in their religion (cult) aka covered up without police or CPS involvement, legal proceedings or public scrutiny. See Josh's teenage crimes and lack of accountability before he was eventually apprehended on different charges as an adult.

As others have said they don't really care that Joe's committed a revolting crime or anything about the victim. They just want it brushed under the carpet, a quick private apology issued and instant forgiveness.

The fact that Kendra's dad a) reported it to authorities (a big no-no) and b) extracted a confession from Joe in a recorded phone conversation (?) would be considered completely outrageous.

I'm getting a strong impression that Kendra considers herself a Duggar by marriage and is honouring her husband/headship by taking his family's side and heeding their advice. I don't know about the 'leave and cleave' upon marriage thing in their culture. For the most part JB seems to lose daughters and gain daughters-in-law. Jessa is an exception (they don't seem that tight with Ben's family for example) and I don't know about Joy. She seems to lead more of a Forsyth lifestyle but is still close with her own family. Jinger and Jana live away and are more under their husbands' umbrellas rather than JB's. Jill we know about, I think she'd still be very close with her parents and siblings had there not been the falling out. It's been discussed that she misses their big fundie family dynamic and is gradually easing back in via her mom and sisters but I don't know how that's received in her marriage.

The daughters-in-law submit to their husbands and all the Duggar guys still have strong ties and dependency on JB - employment, church, money, connections. Some of the DILs have relocated to live in NW AR so there's a geographic distance with their own families. None of the married Duggar sons have moved away from JB's sphere of influence unlike some of the Bates sons.

All of this is exacerbated by Joe and Kendra allowing the Caldwells to live in their house/on their land and probably feeling like they did her family a massive favour/have supported them financially for years. Not that that excuses what Joe's alleged/has confessed to doing.

I read on Reddit that the Caldwells purchased an adjacent plot of land (or were gifted it by J&K) and were supposed to build their own modest home on it and move in within 3 or 5 years. That didn't happen and they've made no move to vacate Joe and Kendra's property. There seems to be other historic bad blood with JB dating from COVID times: Mr Caldwell wanting keep the church he pastored open during lockdown, JB saying no for PR reasons, JB being right for once, Mr Caldwell doing it anyway resulting in the Caldwells being evicted from the property they were living in, owned by JB. There's also a rumour that JB wanted Kendra's next youngest sister Lauren (they look alike) as a bride for another son. But due to the Josh scandal Mr Caldwell declined which didn't go down well with JB who's used to getting his own way and had by that time done the Caldwells quite a lot of favours by relocating them to NW AR, housing them, installing Mr Caldwell as a pastor at his church and probably other financial incentives.

I don't think the Caldwells are above reproach, it sounds like they've been relying too much on Joe and Kendra financially and for who knows what else, and trying to benefit from Duggar proximity. While continuing to pop out children they couldn't afford. But so far they appear to have the moral high ground in this situation (I don't know if they have skeletons themselves, fundamentalism appears riddled with it). Their youngest children are of an age that both parents could get out and work. They have a free childminder in their adult stay-at-home unmarried daughter Lauren. Obviously women aren't expected to work in their culture but with two incomes they ought to be able to support themselves.

I'm sure everything has been compounded by Kendra copping charges herself.

Thank you!
I'm sure more will come out that will challenge these theories. I've been following these types of families online and the accompanying snark for over two decades!

I don't really like Reddit's DuggarsSnark too much but I hang out on RodriguesFamilySnark and dip into BatesSnark and FSU from time to time 😊

It's good to see the discussion on here!

I came here because I can never find basic info on there, so I’m very grateful. I’m distracted now with some Irish TikTok drama that’s been popping off 😭 and I’ve neglected the only sub I really follow, the Rod snark 🤣 I was so excited when their thread was created but trying to pick out what’s going on with this has been something else! Just tell me Joe is going away for 10 years so I don’t have to speculate 😭 it’s very complicated the whole dynamic itself. I did see Jill’s outfit yesterday for Easter and she looked like a traveler, sorry but she did!!! You’ve reminded me to pop over.

They’re very weird on that Duggar snark aren’t they? I’d never comment but they made an entire post speculating on Kendras mental health episodes but yet will all collectively tell someone else off for similar things. There is that legal person “nuggets” ? who is an attorney or something and maybe it’s me not understanding the US legal system but how can this person predict such if she isn’t an expert in the area? It’s crazy to me

No worries! I don't really like the atmosphere over on DuggarsSnark, it's too silly and celebratory for me considering what's happened. It was the same during the Josh trial. Fair enough if people enjoy it but it's not for me. I haven't checked in a couple of days but I'd guess they're struggling with lack of new information and people don't know how to fill the vacuum. Agreed, they're always breaking their own rules. I don't comment as I'm banned (lol). Not for anything egregious, I absentmindedly joined a different snark subreddit that the DuggarsSnark auto-mod bans, oops. Probably for the best. I don't comment on the other sub either, I just joined out of curiosity!

I don't like that nugget mod either, they're power crazed 😭 They appeared during the Josh trial, they were a student at the time I recall. So not even a long-time follower. I don't get the fangirling, they certainly think a lot of themselves 👀

Agree about JRod's Easter look 😁 She never disappoints. I have hope that one or two of the Rod kids eventually get out from her control but it doesn't seem likely. I don't think we'll see much change in the next five years. At least Tim's made some strides but he got lucky with the family he married into and he's still fundie. His kid/s should have a slightly better life however.

What's happening on Irish TikTok?!

I don't know what kind of sentence Joe Duggar will receive. I gather Florida are very strict but on the other hand there's been discussion that they'll negotiate a plea deal. Hopefully it's nice and long. I'm curious what prompted Joe and Kendra's charges in Arkansas. Wtf was going on in their home? Some are saying locks on doors wouldn't be enough for those kind of charges, CPS would monitor and ensure they were removed but no legal proceedings would follow. I wonder if it's 'worse' than that. Kendra seems a lot more brainwashed and assertive than I imagined.

I just don't understand standing by your husband in these circumstances. I can imagine women staying with men who aren't particularly nice to them because they've got to stay married, do the "right thing" but once they admit to something like this, how can they justify this? Same with Anna. I do think the women are particularly vulnerable as they're married off so young their brains aren't even finished developing so all their adult life has been with these men, they've no qualifications or skills to rely on outside of the home and they're kind of stuck.

An ex friends husband went to prison for raping a child, not only did she stay married to him and visit him in prison, when he was eventually released they had two children together. His own parents support him because “the little slapper asked for it”, apparently 11 year old children can consent to grape.

A surprising number of people only having an issue with sexual assault if they are the one who has been assaulted.

I remember a friend was at her sisters one holiday and the police arrived to arrest her brother in law for indecent images. The marriage was over. The sister sold the house and refused to let her children near him. I can’t get over how many people do not move on and stand by their partner. There’s a head teacher in Fife who has stood by her convicted husband.

Anna married Josh at around 20.

I don't think she has any recognized education qualifications. She has no real work history outside the home. Her identity has just been daughter = sister =wife = mother.

She also come across as developmentally frozen in past interviews. For them a woman’s value is to be a wife and pop out kids. Josh’s repeated betrayals followed by "public repentance" and his family creates pressure to forgive. For her to ever even think of leaving she would need significant intervention with a trained team of mental health professionals to get out of the cult not a counselor from her community who will never name Josh’s behavior as predatory and reinforce back to her duty to forgive.

Absolutely every word of this is spot on. The 'teachings' of their cult reinforce all this patriarchal balls. Jinger has described it at length and their cousin Amy has also been speaking out (I've just bought her book, haven't started it yet!)

p.s. Apologies if I'm rehashing previous posts, just found this thread a few days ago. :giggle:

We all learn from our parents how to handle these things, to whatever degree. If your parents have raised you in a cult where women are thought of as nothing more than brood mares, it warps your values. Maybe Anna has already seen this scenario in action, and learned that her place is to be quiet and supportive, and to turn her back to any abuse of her children.

It's essentially just a bunch of creeps passing around their daughters so everyone can have a piece. See the FLDS, watch Keep Sweet, Pray, and Obey. It takes a massive spine and inner strength to break out of this, and not to be completely crappy to Anna, but she seems very soft, mentally.
