Firstly, the police DOES fine us for not sticking to the rules, and heftily so. Don't want to doxx myself too much here, but my city just had a massive mask-denier group try to stage a protest in the mask-only city centre and the police very strictly shut that down. In France, you are NOT allowed to break the rules, it is a strict, strict lockdown. Sure, some assholes will find ways to still go behind the police's back, since there are strict rules as to who can search or even enter your private residence, but this is still very much against the law.
No idea what weird, privileged people you know but fuck them for not sticking to the rules given the high death rate especially here in Germany. That's not normal behaviour, it is absolutely gross negligence. And, yes, it is against the law - we just had a law change that makes it possible to impose strict rules during a pandemic. But even if it is "just" a guideline, it is a guideline that common decency should dictate anyone with a soul to follow, because people are dying and suffering greatly. I spent Xmas alone because I didn't want to risk exposing any of my relatives, and so did most of the people I know and respect. THAT is "standard behaviour" here in Germany and France, not being a selfish asshole ignoring ethics.

Do none of these people even try to get local help? So far Dan the Gardener is the only person consistently receiving local help, even if it is just his neighbor.
Let's break it down in what a vlog of hers constitutes. Titles, pre-shot. Half of advent vlogs pre-shot in advance. Filming Marie making floral arrangements, filming doing some cooking, buying a tree, decorating numerous trees, filming a bit of singing in the chapel. None of this is particularly onerous. She does no cleaning, cooking or admin work, there are no B&B guests. In terms of editing these vlogs are a piece of gateau. If you want to talk about work then this isn't it.Whether you like her or not and whether you consider what she is doing to be work or not she stays up till gone three in the morning editing the footage. The constant interacting and talking with people may look jolly but it is emotionally exhausting to sustain. She sleeps in to get her quota of sleep. I am not comparing with a nurse on a night shift by the way. I am an early bird. I get up and start work at 4am and am shattered by 7pm. I rarely socialise in the evening. If I did, I would have to have a nap in the afternoon at the very least. And 24 days of that back to back with one hiccup is bloody hard work whether you like it or not. She did say it was 24 vlogs and those super fans were getting on my nerves when they were complaining there was no Christmas Day one...
