Watching "It's Not Easy Being Green" on YT. There's a real feeling of a battle for control there between Ma and Pa Strawbridge. And a real problem of aesthetics -- what could be uglier than that aqueduct, the janky windmills, or more uncomfortable to use than a.) the pet pigs and b.) the outhouse, miles from your bed -- all ringed and overlooked by lots of near neighbors with much more suburban gardens. Life seems colder and smellier and damper and more hideous than necessary, as if he were sticking it to the hippie wife, a problem Angel seems to have solved by being the one in charge.
I still crave and eat meat, though far from every day. But I couldn't kill and eat pigs or geese I'd raised. I could break down a butchered pig or goose reasonably well and happily do charcuterie, but eating somebody I know would not be possible. I felt for her and skipped those episodes. Everyone I know who signals virtue by raising their own meat names them Thanksgiving and Christmas. Except for the wit who called them Chicharron and Chitlins. Haha.

Oh, yes! Brilliant! missed that one; the dead seagull is parrfect! The comparisons with Monty Python and Fawlty Towers are endless. The rat; rat poison, and the health inspector on FT also come to mind!

She'll have to watch out if she goes to Venice in September when it may still be hot. In Italy, you have to cover your shoulders and bare arms. Last time she went, it was in winter. I'd love to see her get turfed out of a church for not being suitably clad!!

Yes. Flats would have looked fine with the dress and she could have changed to heels when she nipped back to the van to "freshen up" and dump her shopping. Tottering about is not a good look.

I fully agree with you on some of the points you make.
The series had its appeal when it was aired (2006-2009). And in a way it was a good effort to popularise a "green" lifestyle in the UK.
Seems all a bit dated now (not the philosophy, just the way it was filmed).

might I ask-where did you find that listed as Andrew’s professional services rate? not specifically but generally

I don’t know anything about the Andrew’s profession, or the costs associated with such a busines-but I can’t believe he charges $125 an hour-that seems really really really really low for a professional of his, shall we say, stature-hourly rate for my professional services (not related in tone or scope mind you) was considerably higher-and I‘m willing admit Andrew’s experience must equal or exceed my tenure and sure as Thor sh*ts on everything in sight, you don’t get a discount if two of my profession show up to provide you services

Andrew or Danny, if you are reading a translation of our comments-and I hope you are-if your rates are indeed this modest-please, please know your value and raise your rates boys!

I am not getting a strange vibe from Philip. I actually think he fantasises about domination by Steph and also being treated like a baby. Surely no man with a hint of masculinity wants to wear a women's blue play suit? I was convinced and am not yet unconvinced that they are in a relationship but the relationship is getting weirder. Cross dressing? I just don't know.

I agree, so spot on Mummie Dearest, You've described the detachment so well. I worked in mental health services in the hospitals and in the community and spent two years working on a dementia unit. You do develop a detachment, to protect yourself, so you don't get damaged by deaths or setbacks yourself and you can remain calm and professional. I carried over the detachment into working in other aspects of mental health services as you have to deal with suicide and drug overdose. I've often been told I don't show my feelings easily as a criticism. I'm sure Stephanie had experiences of death and hides her true feelings. Her parents would have had the same detachment, whatever we may think of them.

Who else can't wait for the Floral Killer to set up a studio in the England. Lovely how she also plans to travel to Europe from the Stephantasy world. And lets not forget a trip to Us which is a nice little village in Val d'Oise, not far from Paris. Chateau de Dampont is located in Us and it's for sale for fourteen million euros. Perhaps Sillymar could buy it? The chateau comes with an indoor horse dressage arena which would make a paarfect ballroom. It naturally has the smell of horse manure so I think that's close enough match for Sillymar's bullsh!t.

But back to murdering innocent roadside flowers. Or the Unsuccess Stories that the Floral Killer is trying to pull with her newly found fellow airhead Sarah from America. I want to see how this couple of dimwits is going to juggle a transatlantic business venture. Oh but of course, Wilted Flowers Desing Corp. is already conducting it's core business of nervously giggling at the camera in France while being incorporated in the UK. With this extensive experience in tax dodging Flower Destroyer is not going to bother with paperwork because petty governments are not going tell her what to do!

She has it down to a fine art though. B&B only open Thursday to Sunday. Group dinner only Friday or Saturday night. SO she can be travelling from first thing Sunday to 8pm on Sunday and she has still kept her promise to chateau visitors. If there is a reason for her wanting to be away Saturday for a chateau party or event, she just switches her guest evening to the Friday. She probably skips the aperitif and first course and joins for the main and dessert and then makes her excuses (I have to edit and so does Philip) and leaves. There is nothing wrong with this, but the idea any visitor will see much of her unless it suits her schedule is, I would think, wide of the mark.

Andrew quoted me €120 per hour or €250 for the double act. This was when they were in Barcelona and now in Paris Danny quoted €130. They seem to be "affordable" because a lot of the gay escorts list €150 per hour. If you have the body of a fitness model, you seem to be able to ask €200. Porn stars might get away with asking even more. Andrew and Danny are handsome but in the gay escort world they are pretty average. They're not body builders and, despite what their profile says, the most important thing is not huge, maybe above average, but not huge. I can tell because I've seen Danny's masturbation video.

I cannot believe, with all the beautiful scarves and shawls and 100 star jackets she has been gifted, she could not carry one in her bag at all times for visiting towns with churches and cathedrals. She had a beautiful square, silky scarf with Klimt "The Kiss" printed on it as just one example. She could just cover her shoulders and chest when she went in and put it back in her bag on exit.

I’m very sorry to hear about your mother. I understand how difficult and painful it must have been for you to see her go through that.

Working with dementia residents can be a challenge at times, their moods can change very quickly but that was usually due to the environment or who was doing hands on care. That’s why calming care and calming environments were so important. I preferred the dementia unit over the rest of the building. The residents were very sweet, more were ambulatory, it was a nice place to work, plus there were cats, which kept me entertained at night.

Having a loved one with dementia is a very different experience. I understand because I watched my grandma go through it. I was young, 12, when she started exhibiting symptoms, and I didn’t understand. I spent a lot of time with my grandparents, as my mom was also a nurse in LTC, and worked second shift. I remember feeling frustrated by the way my grandma behaved. It was much harder on my grandpa, as she was often confused and would become angry about who “this strange man” was in the house. My mom had a really hard time with it, she didn’t talk about it much, but I would catch her breaking down from time to time. My grandma ended up living around 6 or 7 years in a dementia unit.

It’s a very sad disease to watch progress and a helpless feeling. Some days are better than others and you pray the good days will linger longer. You watch for a spark in their eyes, hoping they’ll remember you today and you can talk about a memory. I understood it so much more when I was working on the unit, I wish I could have been that person for my grandma when I was 12.

I‘m sorry for the heartbreak you went through, I’m sorry for anyone who has known it. I’m sorry for the residents who have those moments when they can’t understand why this is happening during windows of clarity.
