How much to do you all spend a week for how many adults/ children?

I currently spend over £100 every week for 2 adults. want to try and bring it down!

I tend to shop at Asda the most. I have tried Lidl and hated it. Also tried Aldi, didn't hate it but found it annoying that I couldn't get everything I wanted all in one place. I like Morrisons but I do think it's more expensive than Asda. Not a fan of Tesco at all (although I like their clothes!)

I do our food shop in Asda, about 70/80 a week for the 3 of us, 2 adults and a 10 month old.

There's no Aldi by us, I wish there was I love it. Although the other month I did a food shop there and thought it was shit but I think that's cos I werent used to it

I like some of the stuff from Morrisons and Sainsburys but I deffo prefer Asda. I like Tesco too but none near me. Can't stand Lidl! The bakery is good though

I think I'm gonna switch to getting my meat from a butcher rather than the Asda. The 3 for 10 deal is good for Asda, we do that sometimes

Since the pandemic, my Brother gets the weekly shop from Sainsbury's which is quite close, it's a major branch.
My Brother also works for Sainsbury's but at a different branch so we get our weekly shop with discount plus
we get certain products when they are reduced making a bigger saving. (Coffee for example)

However, my Brother also shops at Morrisons which is quite common with other Sainsbury's staff, there a few
things he will pick up.

Going Back 20 years it was a different story, My Mother and Father would goto Asda for the main shop and
Iceland for the frozen stuff.

I'm not loyal to a supermarket, I have things I like from different shops. I shop in Aldi, M&S, Sainsbury's, Tesco and Asda. I also shop in some local Asian supermarkets for items you just can't get from the big supermarkets. I really wish there was a service where you could order your favourite items from one website and you got them in one delivery. I have been looking into recipe boxes because I don't drive and it would be good to reduce the amount of stuff I have to carry. I don't really know how much we spend each week on shopping as we don't do one big shop but I think it's around £120, which I think is too high as it is just the two of us. But, we don't drink or smoke and the pandemic has stopped our holidays and days out so I'm spending more on special ingredients and treat meals.

living outside of the uk, we don't have most of the shops mentioned on here
we do our weekly shop in lidl and usually it's about £ 80 for 2 adults and 1 cat
for meat, fruit and veg we go to a local supermarket, it's all from local farms
and there's also a random local shop just under out flat so we go there for small things in between the big shops

I use Tesco online. I mostly shopped in-store at Asda pre-Covid but switched to Tesco deliveries for most of last year. I avoid going anywhere busy as much as possible. Tesco have been great. I rarely ever get substitutes and if I do they’re always better than what I ordered. We have a Tesco Express locally but that’s it. Any independent shops would mean a drive to the nearest towns which I avoid.

As for product recommendations, they do a cranberry, cashew & raisin loaf in their bakery which is delicious.

I’m an Asda gal. Love scan and go. I get in right old flap at the self checkouts so it’s nice to scan as I go along. Sometimes go to Aldi as well because you can’t beat them for price but we like some branded stuff that you can’t get from there.

I've tried scan and go, mainly to gain experience, I only pop into supermarkets to grab a few things, scan and go is very good.

How many of you get your meat from the butchers?

I do on occasion. There are 2 on my local high street and I'd started going into one of them more regularly rather than just getting my new year steak pie but the guy was really rude to me picking up said steak pie so it's the last time I'll go there. The other one is lovely but expensive! He does a lot of prepared stir fry stuff, skinny range, chicken breasts in sauce etc which I really like and will go in for specific things but only if I'm feeling flush as he persuades you that you really want loads of extras (which you do as they look great but ££).

It used to be Morrisons and Sainsburys but then I moved house in September so now it is Aldi and Tesco. I tend to go for whatever is closest but I have noticed a big saving in grocery bills now I can get to an Aldi.


Lockdown 1 was interesting - when everyone started panic buying the Morrisons still had loads of stock. About ten days later word spread and everyone and their mother was at Morrisons. So much so that, when all the other local supermarkets were back to full stock Morrisons had almost nothing for several weeks.

Iceland/ Aldi and Tesco's usually depending on my budget...Christmas I go m&s for some treats...4 strapping son's to feed so shopping doesn't come cheap

Sorry for the random question but does anyone know if the M&S clothes stores are open if they have a food hall, or is just the food hall open inside the stores? I'm in desperate need of new bras but I don't want to voyage out only to discover I can't get them

I use Tesco online. Have did for over a year now. No issue getting a slot as I have a 6 month pass. I use my clubcard points to pay for it.

Very few subs, any issues theyve refunded me.

Family of 4 and we spend around £90 -£100 on our online weekly shop and probably £20 a week picking up extra fruit, milk and bread. My kids like expensive fruit and things like yogurts for a family of 4 add up. Im not strict about what I spend or buy though. If I went in store itd be more. One of my children has taken a liking to these stupid Nat Bears for breakfast. The box is £2.60 for 6! Anything for an easy life.

I do one shop a week. I shop in Sainsbury’s. Two adults, two children. Usually about £120 a week. Don’t know if that’s too much or not

They have nice fruit and vegetables, and their flowers always last a long time too.

Our Sainsbury’s is big, but not huge. Sometimes the choice is limited.

I dont drive so aldi my main supermarket when I'm not at work. Lidl when I'm at work when I know someone's driving me home. I do if I'm really low and need it walk to asda or even sainsburys. But it takes a while and cant buy a full shop so feel naughty.

I get an online shop from Tesco most weeks - some of the substitutions are ridiculous so I tend to opt out of subs. I live 5 minutes from an Aldi so I walk there during the week to do top-up shops.

I love M&S food but only buy them when I’m in town or if I can get an Ocado slot. Some of the Ocado stuff I’ve had is nice too. I’m really not keen on Asda!

We spend around £100 - moved back home so there’s me, my mum & 11 year old brother. I usually buy my own food as I’m starting to be vegetarian again and no one else is.

Aldi mainly, Sainsbury's/Tesco top ups to buy anything we can't buy from Aldi. Once every few months we will do a massive Tesco shop rather than Aldi.

We have a big Asda near us too but I literally hate it. I find fruit and veg is way worse quality than the other 3 supermarkets mentioned above, and any own brand Asda stuff tastes so cheap and sugary. Plus I find the supermarket itself looks really dirty compared to the others, might just be my branch in particular.

Oh and every once in a while eg Xmas we will treat ourselves to posh stuff from M&S or Waitrose

Our local Asda is horrendous at the best of times, no natural light and really narrow aisles. Went in there a couple of weeks ago cos we went on a walk nearby and it was a total free for all going in with no limiting numbers, there were tons of people without masks, which is totally inexcusable given the fact they had boxes of them in the entrance for free I couldn’t get out of there quick enough!

You do realise that M&S food is exactly the same as Aldi.. it's all the same, comes from the same place, just in different packaging.
I worked previously preparing food for M&S, Aldi, Morrisons and Asda. Meat, ready meals, the lot. All from the same place.

I've also worked for various supermarkets and can say it is all very much the same. I used to be such a snob too until I saw where it comes from and all that. Still a snob with certain things, like beans & ketchup it HAS to be Heinz. Any cheap beans or ketchup make me ill.

I will say Aldi and Asda are my go to because they're close and I can get everything I need. I won't shop at Morrisons after seeing the behind the scenes there, especially the cafe. Save yourselves and avoid Morrisons cafe. Won't say why but honestly I've never seen anything like it!

I prefer shopping in M&S / Waitrose because of the shopping experience more than the food products....

What about supermarket clothes? I like Sainsburys Tu clothing the best. I've had a few bits from Tesco F & F range too. I'm not a huge fan of Asda George and not yet tried Nutmeg at Morrisons.

I love Tu clothing, it's great quality! I got a pair of dungarees from there I've practically lived in since March

The homeware from Sainsburys is fab too actually
