My ex friends (known since pre teen) are sugar babies, when asked about their outfits and how they can afford it theyd immediately get snappy as say they have a rich aunt (they don’t). I personally had no issue with it but it gets annoying the minute they start to act like it’s their money and start lying by saying oh they have a lash business or a nail business. These are just fronts to cover for their real life because they’re ashamed of what they do. I have a strong moral code with my friends where we don’t judge so just be honest. The minute they started lying to me by saying their body has changed because of working out and they have so much money because they’re not lazy and work hard as a lash/ nail/ makeup tech, is when I just stopped being friends with them. I heavily agree with the saying that who you surround yourself with is who you become, so for my own mental state I left them. Now they have dropped out of university after two years and since they ended up failing a lot of high school classes, they don’t really have a future ahead of them. I don’t like liars, and I don’t like people that have no real ambition in life to be better. I have seen a great mental lightness and I’ve realized because of their constant lying about random stuff (like their job, their body, their family) it’s really messed up my trust with everyone, especially since I grew up with these girls, they’d know I don’t care what they do, I don’t see why they’d lie so much. So don’t actively harass your friend about it, but if their behaviour starts to change and it’s beginning to affect you negatively then leave. No need to make a big deal out of it because it’s not good for your mental health
