Sleep & Dreams

I've had the sleep paralysis a couple of times. Probably last seconds but feels an age, a shadowy figure hovering at the side of the bed, inching close. I could feel and hear myself trying to scream but no luck.
---
My husband keeps waking up sitting bolt upright thinking there's an attacker in the room. I have to pat him on the back and say don't worry there is nothing there and then he falls back to sleep. Usually this happens when he is tired.

I dream regularly the same few dreams about catching a bus or train or plane. Or getting lost in a big city.

I have quite a lot about flying on a plane and the plane never taking off. It always tries but never can.
Nothing bad happens... We don't crash... It just keeps landing and trying again

That’s odd. I never leave the platform so similar to your plane not taking off.

Does anyone ever have dream premonitions?
I haven't personally but my granddad always used to dream of plane crashes a day or so before they happened.
I've always found premonitions really fascinating

not a dream premonition as such but I went on a school trip when I was about 11 or 12 and the volunteers were checking everyone was in bed etc. so our room door was open. There was a really old fashioned fire alarm outside our room on the wall that I was staring at really intently and I could hear and see it going off though it wasn’t. About 3am that morning the fire alarm went off and we all had to go outside! That freaked me out.
I do sometimes feel like I know things are going to happen before they do or I’ll like I’ll be watching a question and answer gameshow and I know what the contestants answer will be even when it’s wrong I know what they’re going to guess 🤷‍♀️ creepy.

My dad did once, and it wasn’t as altruistic as your grandad’s, but he dreamt the lottery numbers. He could only remember 4 of the number when he woke up, which he then placed that same day. All 4 that he’d remembered came up, which won us around £90. Needless to say my mum was furious he didn’t remember the rest 😂

I've always had weird and vivid dreams; night terrors were frequent as a child, I have always sleep walked and I talk in my sleep most nights.

When I am very very tired, whilst falling asleep, I get this weird sensation that everything is sped up in my mind. It's really hard to describe, but everything is on fast forward and my hands and body feel like they're moving really quickly.

I did have a recurring dream based on a traumatic experience I had as a child; the event would replay in my head over and over as part of a dream but in different settings. My partner is a therapist and suggested I write the whole dream out and then read it repeatedly over days. It worked and I didn't have that dream again for well over a year; I've only had it about 3 times since in times of very high stress. It was like I hadn't processed the event and it was coming through my dreams. Well worth it for anyone struggling with a recurring dream.

I love dreaming have done my whole life, I would go to bed early as a child to dream!

Had sleep paralysis twice both horrific frozen & couldn't breathe traumatised me.

I dream about my days at school over 20 years ago very often, very vivid & I can wake up quite emotional when it involves love or heartbreak. I rarely dream about my husband or daughter/family.

I dreamt about the boxing day tsunami a couple of days before it happened & there be a few other smaller things too.

I often dream I’m someone else, I’ve just woken up from a dream about me being a woman who broke into a wealthy woman’s house who was selling lovely clothes on Vinted so I could try them on. Her husband tries to catch me but I escape. I caught my face in a mirror & i was foreign in my dream.

I have the best sex dreams too, often with celebs I fancy 👌😅

Oh I dream I’m back at my old school loads too! They knocked it down last year so it doesn’t even exist anymore except in my dreams 😂

I’ve had sleep paralysis a handful of times, it hasn’t happened in a while though. It would always be someone coming into the room holding me down, always a male for me. I’m glad they don’t happen anymore as they really freak me out. Seems so real. Apparently happens when you are really stressed or in a negative headspace as you attract the negative energy.

I was really ill with tonsillitis once, so probably a contributing factor. I woke up and couldn’t move but I could see the bunk bed my sister and step sister shared and could see my step sister moving so knew I was awake. The weirdest thing was my vision was like how night vision is, like that green tone. Proper freaky.

Dreams I have regularly are those frustrating dreams where you’re just trying to do something and can’t. It’s usually when I’ve been off work for holiday and due to go back. I work in care so one I have frequently is I’m doing the morning medication round and keep getting interrupted and just can’t seem to finish getting the medication out to everyone.

If I hang something up in my room, for example a coat on the wardrobe door, sometimes my brain will sense it as a foreign object in the pitch black middle of the night and I'll jolt awake terrified that there's an intruder in the room. Does anyone know the sensation I mean? It must be something deeply primeval, it's a horrible sensation.

I get this! It's awful. I get it if I leave something at the bottom of my bed as well, like it'll wake me as ill think it's something sitting on the bed or similar

Definitely, I prepare all my clothes for work the evening before but can never leave them in my room hanging up, I leave them in the hallway. Ditto I have a mirror on the inside of my wardrobe doors, after hearing the horror story of bloody Mary I cannot sleep with the mirror door open in case I accidently glance at it at midnight

I can’t sleep in a room with mirrors. My ultimate fear from watching too many horror movies I think 😂

Don't know if it's already been mentioned but my dream last night reminded me.
Something that happens a lot is someone's in trouble or I need to call 999 for whatever reason and never can. It never goes through

I've had something similar when im looking for help and just can't text or phone anyone. Seems to be the case with dreams that there is a lot of frustration- can't get somewhere on time, can't call people, can't shout for help🤣

Also not sure if those who have experienced lucid dreaming are the same, but whenever it happened to me, I couldn't really control the dream, I could only control my actions in it

I dream something similar where I cannot dial the number I need. Or I can’t text. It’s so frustrating and I get really upset and panicky. I KNOW the number but it’s almost as if my fingers don’t work anymore!

Only once, last year.
On the Tuesday night I dreamt the Queen had died and I was pissed off that it had happened while Harry and Meghan were in the UK. She died on the Thursday while they were in the UK.
On the Wednesday I almost posted it on the Royal’s thread but thought it was a bit morbid so I didn’t. I did tell my husband though.
