I just dont even think he will do after this. One of the things they said was that they wouldnt have a repeat of the conservative revolving door fiasco. so I think he will apologise then keep going.

Having said that I'd be glad to see this wet, buck passing sock resign but oh my god everyone else will be at least as bad and likely worse .

I am almost certain, judging by my local Facebook group that everyone is going to vote Reform around here too. 😭. What a terrible day to have been given the vote.
I agree. I detest Starmer but anyone else taking his place will be much much worse.

I hope so, terrible as he is the last thing we need is Big Ange swooping in. He’s held on this far, I think he’s got it in him to keep hanging on

Keep an eye on the Tameside Council results, that's Ange's seat of Ashton and that will almost certainly go Reform. She's highly likely to lose her seat at the GE if things don't pick up.

I think Streeting has a very marginal seat too?

I think Al Carns would be an ideal choice to succeed Starmer.

I lived there until recently and the only reason she stayed as an MP was the Conservative and Reform vote was split

I'm hearing that might no longer be an issue, as per today's results. Reform have possibly taken every seat Labour was defending.

Time for Starmergeddon! I expect they will hang on to some but they are going to be very badly hit looking at what's happening right now

But isn't that why she bought the flat in Brighton? Because they know she was / is on shaky ground in Ashton?

Just woken up to them getting thrashed all over the North. It looks bad, and most of the NW councils haven't even started counting yet.

And that’s the problem for the next GE unless Reform and the Conservatives come to some agreement about which seats they field candidates.

Do you mean just the ones where reform has fielded a candidate because Labour have still won hundreds of seats (and lost lots)

said this on the pol thread, but no Pm has ever resigned because of poor local election results, he wont be going

We are going to have to bring in the SAS to remove him. He’s such a narcissist that loves the trappings of high office

so its looking like they lost around 1500 seats, Starmer obviously doesn't think that is a big deal..if he didn't see fit to resign over that disgusting Mandelson debacle, he certainly won't see this is as a resigning matter, he is there until the next election or if he dies in the meantime, he does not care about anything only himself, the country is going down the bleeper and if Farage is the next PM, he is responsible

1500 seats 😬 if that's not a wake up call... But he'll just shrug it off. Whereas when he was in opposition party he'd be the first to jeer and sneer if the show was on the other foot.

We were talking specifically about Tameside Council.

It's an absolute shitshow round my way, Reform even flipped some of the LibDem wards and two Tory wards in the village I grew up in. George Galloway's Grifters and Knuckledraggers won two seats. Greater Manchester results are very messy, only Bury seems to have held up for Labour.

Listening to the statements coming out, he'd going to try and style it out - there's no obvious replacement because he blocked Burnham in Gorton/Denton.
