There is a contest in the sense that Labour has to elect a new leader, but if only one person gets enough MP nominations there isn't actually anything to vote on. I've read that Burnham has the backing of about 200 MPs so it doesn't need to go to a vote unless someone else steps up and says they want to run to lead. Streeting said he was going to contest but then stepped down and there's nobody else throwing their hat in the ring which means Burnham will be elected

I hope someone does - if nothing else, so Burnham's pitch/campaign can give him some obligations to stick to.

Well, well done to the second most ineffectual PM of all time and the decision to knight that plank Khan. Presumably for services to making London less safe than midway through the Great fire of London .

Well that’s not true is it?
Even Mad Nad thinks London is safe now.

Ah of course he's made his friend a Peer 🙄
I think the entire HoL should be abolished entirely. Allowing a distant descendant of the bloke who wiped Henry VIII’s backside to rule over our laws is ludicrous.
However, I can’t see the fuss about Sadiq Khan. Whether you like him or not he is a successful politician. I can’t see how him going to the HoL is any stupider than Lebedev or Charlotte Superinjunction Owens.

So he’s a part time mayor now, just what London needs

In my personal.opinion, and it is just that, I think Mayor Khan has been an appalling mayor. To me it's not acceptable that just because someone has a high profile job it's ok to knight them or whatever. They actually have to excel in that role beyond what would be expected of the role.
I don't think Sadiq has done a.good job frankly.

The people who elected him three times may disagree

He’s won 3 elections so clearly somebody thinks he’s doing ok.
Do you think Charlotte Owens did a good enough job to deserve her peerage? What about Philip Green? Tony Blair?

London has gotten significantly worse since he became mayor and all the luvvies who can afford to be champagne socialists and insulate their lives against the very nonsense they claim should get a free pass…just not in their backyard mind you, keep voting that twit faced wick back in! Women and girls are less safe than before, the roads are being dug up for cycle lanes that aren’t fit for purpose, thugs are able to hide in plain site via their never ending cafes, lounges, and repair shops…no matter how much evidence is presented to the police about criminal activity, public transport costs are ridiculous and it’s just tit because where the Kentucky Fried duck™️ is all the money going?! Khan KANT and needs to go. Signed, a bloody fed up Londoner who’s seen it all!
