Anyone else had cat with neurological issues? Our cat had a 'moment' last night that was like a fit but wasnt a full one. The vet wants to send them to a neurologist because hes also been having upset stomach ect.

I dont know what to do, it could cost two to three grand to see a neurologist, hes insured so that isnt an issue. I want him to get better and I want answers but I dont want to put him through alot of treatment for nothing.

As a cat lover myself, I can understand your concerns. I don't really have any advice, just sending my best wishes to you both.

How old? Has your cat had any vaccinations in the last year? Or any flea treatment? They can definitely cause neurological problems. Do you use any essential oils or scented candles? They can also cause problems.

Not a cat but my dog has had several fits over the last year. It is heartbreaking as he’s otherwise completely healthy.

We saw the vets after the first one as it scared us all, but they said unless he starts having them much more frequently (several times a month) whereas currently it’s been 1 every 3-4 months, medication may not have any benefits and can cut his life shorter as he’s only 2. Praying he just grows out of it.

Sorry no advice but I hope it works out somehow as I know how scary and heartbreaking it is to not be able to help them! Sending love ❤

Oh how awful for you and your cat. Our cat had a fit with foaming at the mouth a few years ago it turned out he’d licked a frog and had effectively poisoned himself.

Has it just been the one episode? How is he behaving today?

Hes 2 and a half. He had his vaccinations back in June and he has flea/worming regularly so not sure itll be that.

My mums started using wax melts, do you think that could cause it?

Our cat loves wildlife and is always playing eith the foxes, he has also brought us in 3 bats (last year!) hes been quiet today.

If it were me, as long as he’s eating and behaving somewhat normally I would give it some time. It may well have been a one off.

Cats are very sensitive to smells etc so it could be the melts or they could have exasperated anything going on. Maybe your mum could stop them for a while.

My boy was hit by a car about two months ago and is slowly recovering from so very bad injuries, they can make amazing recoveries in only a few days. Each day he is getting a little bit more like his old self and he’s 13! Even with insurance vet bills are painful, we didn’t have insurance and we’re looking at a £3k bill 😳

It could be. But an animal can have a reaction to a vaccination or flea treatment at any time. Just because they didn’t before doesn’t mean they won’t ever. I know this because one of my cats died after a booster. She started having seizures. The vet admitted it could happen. I was gobsmacked. All the vet nurses I talked to afterwards told me they only gave their cats kitten shots and then no more. It’s not necessary. It’s a scam to make money. Join the Raw & Holistic Cat & Dog Support Group on FB. Because your cat had now had a seizure he should never, ever have any more inoculations. What flea worming treatment do you give? 1. Do a fecal test to see if he has worms. 2. Research natural methods of flea control. Don’t use those drops or anything internal. Also, cat can be very sensitive to many essential oils as I said.
