We’re not touching our son’s hair this time around, will wait for barbers to reopen. He and his brother are starting to look like The Beatles though.

Stop reading ridiculous over the top nonsense on stupid parenting forums. He is fine. His hair will grow back. This is a complete non issue!!!!!!!!! Relax.Ahhhhh, in a long story short, I was giving my 2 year old son a haircut, when mid blending he moved very abruptly resulting in a very obvious, shaven rectangle on his head. (Think Jackass shaving prank..) and unable to cover it, I panicked and have shaven his head. Not completely bald, not even as short as a skinhead, but very short. I’ve been in tears since doing it and although his dad is okay with it, my son isn’t phased and I know it is only hair, upon googling it I’ve found old mums forums posts saying they can’t understand why anyone would shave a child’s head and that it’s cruel.
I just need advice and a bit of logical responses honestly. Would you of done the same? His hair will grow back within a matter of months, if even that long! I didn’t feel cruel, but upon reading some forums, I’m wondering if what I did was cruel? Would he of been better walking around with the bald patch?! 🥲

My son once sneakily helped himself to the clippers when he was in nursery too. Gave himself a grade 0 straight through the middle of his head. So I did the rest, that or he was going to step out looking like a monk. I got some unkind comments from my family though who said he looked really ill with his new do!

Holy tit it's just fashion. Calling it "cruel" is absurd! When I was little in the 90's, load of little boys had crew cuts.
Hair grows 1/2 inch per month so her will soon look back to normal anyway x

I think it is a normal part of parenting. My little boy had his hair shaved because I messed up and I was left with no choice. But he loved it! I was so upset and I felt awful. My husband is bald so he was walking around saying "Me and daddy are twins". He wanted to call my parents to show how much he looks like his dad now. Poor boy doesn't get that he looks like me
But what my point is - it is normal to feel that way and it is only hair. It will grow back soon enough and you will be able to look back and laugh.
There is so much mum guilt and shaming and as long as a kid is warm, fed, happy and loved that is all that matters.
