Took my then cat to be neutered & got a call from the vets a few hours later asking me to come & collect him immediately, as he was wide awake & upsetting a poorly cat in the next pen!

Got him home with instructions to keep him indoors & quiet for the rest of the day, but Otis had other ideas! He shot through the cat flap, dashed up the garden & climbed a tree!

He was a bit of a cat though!

Someone at work has just laid into me for having an "indoor only" cat, saying it's inhumane and would you like to spend all day in the house etc.

Not being funny, but Peach has zero interest in going outside. The closest she gets to outside is looking out the door from the comfort of the top of the staircase. She has never tried to get out, or even gotten close to the open front door when we bring in the food shop etc. I'm sure if she wanted to go outside, if she had any inkling of even thinking about setting foot outside, she would have tried by now :ROFLMAO: If she showed any interest in going outdoors, we would consider letting her. But she doesn't! Silly people.

People are just so judgemental, when my cat went missing and j was devastated People replied to my post on next-door (not everyone but a few people) just saying that I was irresponsible for having let him out. He loves going outside and I don't want to keep him in against his will (he came back, thankfully)

I see so many comments on missing cat posts where people say "I'd NEVER let my cat out" as if that's even slightly helpful? Also some indoor cats can end up getting out on their own, it's not that we let them out on purpose. When I first got my indoor cat, I remember she once bolted out of the backdoor in the pitch black and under a big tree in the garden in the snow, I was terrified! Sometimes they do out of character things and people making judgemental comments are the worst

😂😂😂😂😂he’s already tried to get out the cat flaps which are locked now, he’s playing with his toys so he seems ok. Probably the drugs 😂

Tell her to bind her beak.
My cats are indoor only as they're killing machines and where I live has high populations of kookaburras, cockatoos and galahs. Also the risk of your cat being hurt or hit by a car is zero.

My cats have their own room at the front of the house with huge windows, plenty of sun and fresh air, a tower and baskets to sit in. As long as the cat is getting mental and physical stimulation they're fine.

My previous cat had spent most of his life outdoors but was elderly and a bit stiff when he came to me so was happy enough to stay indoors.

The cat before that was about 50/50 as she loved being out and about for part of the day but would come home regularly so I rarely worried about her.

Jimmy was an outdoor cat as he was a stray before I took him in. He has absolutely no interest in the outside world, In fact, he hardly ever looks out a window but is content to chill and relax about the house.

I let my cats out to begin with for short times but now have a cardio for them. They do sometimes escape so I'm glad they went out to begin with as at least they come home if they do escape

I couldn't let cleo outside, too many cars and people. I grew up on a farm and unfortunately one of our cats was run over and it was horrible. It put me off ever letting her out, I would worry too much. I took her outside a couple of times in a playpen and she completely freaked out 🤣 she ventures out into the stair (im top floor flat) but even getting her over the threshold off the door took her days. She loves it now but even if the back door is open luckily she doesnt step foot outside. Tell you what though, she had hit the terrible twos. She jumped at my boyfriends face earlier and caught him on the chin, she is hitting all the Christmas cards off the mantlepiece... and I thought the kitten stage was bad 🤣

Anyone else get clingy cats when it's hot? My dad reckons they want to get close because our skin is cool.
It's been brutally hot here (over 40 degrees) and I've had both Thor and Susan lying on me and wanting cuddles more than usual.

Tbh no, they seem more clingy when it's cold and they want warmth, you know?

Does anyone’s cat sometimes make a noise like they are wheezing for a like 30 seconds? Peach has just done it and the vets have told us it’s probably just a hair up her nose, but it was SO scary! I was worried she was having an asthma attack or something! They advised not to bring her in as she now seems completely fine, playing as normal but I was terrified

Inverted sneezing, maybe? I’ve known cats who do that, might be worth googling for a video to see if that’s what it was?

Yeh my little boy has a couple of times, he always seemed fine immediately after, I'd only worry if it's very frequent

Omg that’s exactly it! I was terrified at the time but apparently it’s relatively harmless. Thank you 😊

I forgot to tell you all about Cipher's ambitious pursuit the other day. I was admiring Wedgwood's stretching on the low wall on the patio when he suddenly stiffened and went into attentive watching mode, so I did too. Cipher was tearing up the garden in pursuit of a squirrel who was absolutely pelting for its life. Squirrel got to the fence safely and scuttled into a tree, and Cipher withdrew, thwarted. I don't fancy a squirrel kill.

Not me, but a friend of mine's cat killed and dismembered a young rabbit she had caught, right up against the bay window during a family gathering.
