Meh... I don't like that. There's a sinister reading to anything and typical Mail there's some very subtle homophobia injected into it. Sam wasn't and isn't a child, and dragging him into this is really horrible. If he has an issue with their relationship it's up to him to talk about it, not some crappy tabloid to judge it.

Yeah I dont see much wrong, aside the possible cheating, in the start of their relationship. 28 and 44 isnt an awful gap. 28 you're a fully grown man, no relationship power issue and depending on the individuals involved, not necessarily a big difference in mentalities.

If it was bad from the inside, then only he can say that.

I saw a lot of defensiveness about this when the Schofield story broke and I defintely saw some people label it homophobic as a way of shutting it down.
Some people’s comments over Schofield were sickening, especially dumb housewives who watched This Morning, they steadfastly refused to believe anything against him.

It went beyond innocent until proven guilty, there was plenty of messages on Twitter with him messaging young boys and showing them around the studios and boys thanking him for doing so. 🤢 I guess we are more clued up on here though.

On Race Across the World someone thought Scott was Sam’s dad and they were laughing about it. Scott said he acts much younger than he is and Sam is more mature so they meet in the middle. Watching them I wouldn’t have guessed there was a gap

My son calls himself a twink - there is an element of reclaiming the word I think. He looks younger than he is, always gets IDd in bars (and then they look confused, do maths, double check the ID and reluctantly let him buy a drink). He is also slight in build and is only 5'8" so quite small for an adult male. He gets chatted up by older men sometimes, but his current partner is the same age as him and smaller so makes him look massive! In their case twinkness is purely an about how they look, not how they conduct relationships. Both of them are aspiring actors and have never been approached to 'help' their career by doing powerful men favours. They may be too early in their careers but I think GenZ are far more consent based and dont feel pressured into things that make them uncomfortable.

Sorry... Gok Wan a 'twink' - I'm dead 🤣🤣🤣🤣
In his dreams 🤣 No, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson in early One D where the twinkiest of twinks … Niall Horan too, but he was less flamboyant! Oh and Tom Daley!! Mega twink.

being a twink or being called a twink is like saying cute or boy band wannabe something. It’s not always an insult, although it can be. It’s just a kind of look. Another kind is “bear” which is a big hairy guy.

I didn't even know twink was a word that was in need of being reclaimed.

The only time I ever hear it is Jonny cakes on YouTube calls his boyfriend cake twink. They must be late 30s.

Same happened with Spacey. It was an open secret for years about him to the point young guys were warned never to be alone with him when he worked at the Old Vic and other places, yet whenever it was even insinuated about him being gay, he denied it. Then as soon as the allegations became public, he came out and like Schofield, many rushed to defend him saying it was down to bigotry and nothing else.

And as I said, it's not related to age. You can be young looking but not twinky.

I think calling someone a twink is synonymous with being called a bit vapid, a bit of an airhead or dumb/naive.

Tom Daley would have been seen as more of a twunk, though definitely he fits the airhead/dumb vibe.

Troye Sivan could also have been called a twink, but not anymore really.

Twink death is also a term used to refer to someone who is no longer a twink, you could say Troye Sivan and Tom Daley have both experienced twink death as they are now older/less youthful in appearance.

It's all rather ageist when you think about it really, as if your only value is youth and good looks.

What’s a Twunk?

My friend was a twink when we were younger, we used to go to gay nights and not spend a penny which we all thought was really cool, but looking back we were 20, my friend was very cute and looked younger than his age and the men buying the drinks were at least double our ages, it’s really grim.

I think there is or was some cultural aspect to it (as there would have been with older richer guys buying younger girls drinks or fancying them or liking “jailbait”) but also things have evolved in the last 10 - 20 years and that whole thing is more often condemned (Both gay and straight). On Millionaire Matchmaker Patty is always talking about guys wanting “spinners” that’s pretty vile.

I think there Is some nuance and with Spacey it’s a bit like that pervy PE/Drama/Music teacher at school who used to always date Sixth formers and with Schofe it’s so far outside of acceptable as he knew the kid as pre-pubescent through to “unwise but not illegal” those are wrong whether boys or girls, it’s not homophobic to think so.

Scott having a younger hubby, Fry having a much younger hubby - meh those facts alone aren‘t problematic.

Russell T Davies gives me the ick. Clear penchant for younger men, the latest of whom he seems to have charmed with a Dr Who set photo shoot.
His partner is like 27-28 though. Yeah, there's an obvious age gap but I've genuinely seen people online trying to call him a n*nce for dating a guy who's closer to 30 than 21, which is just ridiculous 🙈

It might not be a relationship you'd have yourself, but I think it's also important to remember that anyone over the age of consent (well over, in this instance) still has autonomy over their sex and relationships as well. So unless anything untoward about RTD's behaviour comes out, I think 'Grown adult man dates older adult man' is just exactly that.

He once chatted me up on Grindr and in one of my photos I was wearing a leather jacket, which he took a particular shine to, seemed to have a thing about leather jackets. What gives me the ick about that is that when he brought Dr Who back he put Christopher Eccleston in a leather jacket (and I think Ncuti Gatwa too).

Honestly what gives me the ick is how much he seems to be enchanted by Olly Alexander, I don’t get it.
