I’m so tired of this over sexxed little imp producing boring mass produced music and despite knowing her core audience is children exposing them to her sex habits and presenting it as “artistry”. It’s not right.
agreed. it’s just crude and vulgar

I thought her Coachella performance was good, I always enjoy hearing Nobody’s Son live (think last time was when she was on SNL).

I think her shtick is becoming boring. I don't see how she's going to reinvent herself.

I love her but kind of agree. Reminds me a bit of lady gaga when she was doing all the over the top, outrageous outfits, people eventually got bored of it. Think she kind of tried to bring it back again with the Mayhem album.

I was just thinking of that the other day, when Gaga came out the gate with this incredible, very plastic pop album. I would have loved more of that, but unfortunately then Gaga became ARTISTE, and it was all about her dumb tit clothing and making songs about how artsy she is.

tbf i had never heard of a zhagrouta before - and over the crowd who knows what she heard. People are so desperate to be offended (or to get one over on someone) its like a purity spiral that no one will win with.

She heard them say it was their culture though?

I’ve seen sooo many fans voice their opinions in support of Sabrina and sooo many of them have ended up being racist/xenophobic very quickly that I actually just find the whole thing quite disgusting

I do think he reaction was a bit thoughtless and she shouldn’t have been sarcastic or called it weird and creepy. But in her defence “it’s my culture” has become internet lingo and people use it for anything these days. So I can kind of understand how in the moment she might have thought they were messing around

Her apology basically implied that if she had seen the person wasn’t white she would have reacted differently which isn’t much better. She knows what she did

I tell them it's just your culture and everyone rolls their eyes, yeah I know

I watched the set today and loved it. Wasn’t aware of the culture comment thing until I read this thread cos I’m not on social media atm.

I think that she had never heard of a zhagrouta and genuinely thought someone was yodelling. So when they said “it’s my culture”, she probably thought it was someone taking the piss saying yodelling is their culture. Which is why she felt comfortable mocking it. Even if she is deep down ignorant/xenophobic lol, I doubt she’d be so bold as to openly mock someone. She’s too PR trained for that. I do think it was a misunderstanding.

Does anyone else feel if this were another artist, they'd have been hung out to dry?

People are saying it's not fair to punish someone for simply not knowing something (true!). Yet we see all the time online, if there's other people who don't know something, they don't get the same grace. It's "educate yourself", or some snarky remarks about 'ignorance' or 'privilege' or what have you. It feels like Sabrina is being defended tooth and nail where other people would have been torn a new one.

Yeh I’ve noticed that. I think it’s because she’s at her peak right now but without any other “scandal” to speak of yet. Like with Taylor, people were already bored with her by 2012 and shaming her for dating, so her 2016 cancellation was easier. Same with Chappel Roan, she’s already disliked for so many things (her politics, her boundaries, not being for the male gaze) that the hotel drama was always going to go OTT.

Yeh lots of people don’t like Sabrina’s sexuality but it’s at a level that isn’t threatening to men. The same thing happened with Britney, her overt sexuality was generally fine until the point it was clear she was really having sex and partying (not just in songs). Ditto for mental health/substance issues for Demi Lovato, Mariah, Whitney, a hair cut for Katy Perry, the list goes on. It’s only a matter of time until they turn on Sabrina.

Perhaps... hopefully...the response is simply a reflection of the fact that people can make mistakes, apologise, and we can all get on with our own lives.

I also think, that even if it was a swiss person yodelling, and it was their culture, she was in a quiet part of her performance, why are you yelling over someone?

Like if a south african bleated a vuvuzela over the quiet bit of her performance, that would also be knobbish behaviour.

I feel like that there are a lot of people who are enjoying making a show of being upset and bothered as they have decided that it is time to take her down a peg or two.

I don't think what she said is evidence of anything beyond her being confused that someone was making an unusual and unexpected sound during a quiet part of her show.

She has apologised for not knowing what it was about. I don't know what people want her to do. Presumably wear some sort of hair shirt and whip herself until she knows better?

Quoting myself as I've been proved wrong. I was on Reddit and some people on there are really going for her over this, especially as it turns out a lot of the posts/clips are being taken down due to copyright claims, and people believe it is her team actioning this but it's having the Streisand effect.

People are being really over the top with it all, as if she is genuinely this nasty racist person whose mask has slipped! It's ridiculous and I don't believe that for a moment. In fact I think they're being racist towards her, as much of the commentary is about her being white.

You couldn't pay me enough to be famous these days. It's very 'live by the internet mob, die by the internet mob.'
