That’s not even an actual carpet, it’s a blanket that she alternately keeps on the floor and folded on her bed
The thing is, you can "practise" something as much as you like but if you get no feedback on it, the skill isn't going to develop and you're going to get into the habit of bad execution. It's like when she says she's learning Latin or Spanish, there are probably mistakes she's making that are getting further embedded into her practice because nobody with actual knowledge is correcting her. It's a vital part of learning, to be checked and corrected by someone who knows the subject better than you do.So I most unwisely watched Rubert’s new video. Two things… Firstly, if she’s been practising academic writing for ten minutes daily since 2016, why on earth isn’t she a better writer? She just… isn’t very good. I’m genuinely surprised that she claims to have such a consistent writing practice; is this a Rubert porky-pie? Am baffled.
Secondly, did my eyes and ears deceive me or did she cite Gatsby as a good example to follow of how to conduct one’s day-to-day life?
I think you’ll find that NOBODY knows better than Ruby, thank you very much. It's a vital part of learning, to be checked and corrected by someone who knows the subject better than you do.
What do you fucking know, we’re doubling down on the rain-loving. There’s zero way this isn’t another undeclared ad - when has she ever tagged anyone who wasn’t paying her?”We’ve been fine so far this morning but the forecast doesn’t look promising.” Why is someone whose entire personality is largely built upon the firm foundation of loving rain (unlike other girls) devoting most of a letter to whining about rain?
That New Yorker article is from a 2018 edition of the magazine. She's just keeping a few around as props. Also, that's really really not the face of "extreme joy" fucking hell.
Aaaand there's a new video.

I don't understand how she can possibly think that looks good???? like, how can you even suck this bad at everything, constantly.
It weirds me out too, but only because she went out of her way in a previous video to say that the iPad Pro was vastly overrated, and that a regular one was all you needed. Also I call bs on her actually using the typewriter. She’s hauled it out of its cobwebby cave for videos maybe twice. She is the only person who does a new academic year prep video and talks about fountain ink, typewriters, and then an iPad unboxing all in the same video. It's like she can't figure out what aesthetic she is. A used iPad just weirds me out, I'm not sure why though.
I meant the way she wrote "haul" ^^That New Yorker article is from a 2018 edition of the magazine. She's just keeping a few around as props.
Shouts & Murmurs: Ask the Compliance Expert
Let me answer your question with a question: Have you been caught? If not, for all practical purposes you are in compliance.www.newyorker.com
Oh yes I wasn't referring directly to your comment, sorry I should have made that clear! Was instead commenting on how silly it is she keeps old magazines around for props.I meant the way she wrote "haul" ^^
