Anybody else suffer?

Anything worked for you?

I have tried all the supplements, changing my diet, sleep hygiene the full works.

And NOTHING works.

I am honestly at breaking point. My latest flare is now 7wks and counting and no sign of it letting up.

Without wanting to sound dramatic it is actually starting to ruin my life

I’ve had this since I was a teen, made my life a misery, I also tried everything, supplements, cutting out caffeine, alcohol etc nothing worked! Then through work, when reading someone’s medical records I saw they been prescribed ropinerol for it, went to my GP straight away, was referred to a neurologist who agreed I had restless leg syndrome and he gave me a prescription for it straight away, absolute lifesaver!! I didn’t get on with that tho as it made me super sleepy and a bit weird feeling when I woke up after taking so I was switched to pramipexole and I’ve taken this for years, I’m 42 now and while it doesn’t ALWAYS work, I take it almost every evening and it’s a genuine lifesaver for me! I genuinely don’t know what I’d do without it! My dad has the same thing and he went to the doctor after I got meds and they gave him the same, he swears by it as well and we both agree we don’t know how we would cope without it! It’s generally used as a medication for Parkinson’s, I take a very low dose though and honestly, I couldn’t recommend it enough! Not sure where you’re based but def go to your GP and ask about this, that’s what I did and they were fanstastic!!!!

I feel your pain on this, it’s the most uncomfortable thing in the world!! And can def ruin your life!

I'm suffering with it a lot at the moment and can't seem to find anything that helps. Only ever had it mildly/occasionally but this last couple of months it's been horrible 😑.

My GP prescribed me Ropinerol and it works really well.
Yea I had ropinerol when I was first diagnosed formally in my teens, worked great but I’d literally take it and fall asleep! 😂 and it made me feel a little sick when I woke up, pramipexole works much better for me : )

Yeah it makes me sleepy but i take it when i go to bed so it's ok. When i first had it i took it earlier and then went sleep on the sofa 🤣

It was great for taking before bed I agree, but mine starts the second I try to chill out or if I’m in a car for long periods, cinema anything like that :/ so not ideal! lol!

For me it has been related to low iron levels. Once I discovered my ferritin was low, taking iron tablets has made it more or less go away.

I started taking iron supplements for another reason and it helped my restless legs immensely. Never had low iron in test results but it still made a huge difference.

I had low iron for years recently, I took tablets, had infusions and none of it made any difference to my iron levels or restless legs sadly 🥲 but I tell you having restless legs after having a hip replacement is not fun!! 😂

Does anyone know if it can be related to hormones ? I have recently started getting it, and also restless arms at night and I am in my 50s so wondering if hormone related. I will definitely get some Floradix in to see if Iron helps too.

I'm going to try some iron. I need to anyway as I'm deficient, just hadn't got around to choosing the best option. Have gone for some iron bisglycinate and some vit c to take alongside.

I think it can be, it’s not for me, they think it’s a genetic thing, my dad and grandparents had it. And I have it, so they think I was just lucky and kind of got it from him 😑 but I think there’s a lot of other potential causes as well

Thank you. It is one of those things I had heard of before, but didn't realise how horrible it is. I get it in the arms more frequently than legs, and nearly always in the evenings/at night.

I've had RLS since I was a teen, along with PLMD. It happens most nights and although it can be excrutiating at times I still feel that I have it quite mildly compared to some. I tried St John's Wort for a time and that seemed to help but it interfered with my pill so I had to stop. Now trying extra magnesium. Not sure if its working as a placebo but I'll take it either way!

I have been started on gabapentin, I had 4 nights RLS free but last night was awful again. I am still under a week since starting and am on a low dose so early days still. I'm sorry so many of you struggle too 💜

Touchwood I’ve not had any bad nights for a while, I found drinking tonic water at night helped, also magnesium.
It’s been so bad before I wanted to cut my legs off lol like others have said it’s at night.
It’s funny my husband is paralysed and I’m sitting there kicking my legs about moanin about them, and his lookin at me sayin rub it in why don’t you lol
