Why do vegetarian/vegans want to eat products that are made to look and taste like meat products the one thing they are avoiding 🤔

Why do we (UK) turn the clocks back to give us "extra daylight"? This illusion only works for one day (the day that the clocks are turned back), there are still the same amount of hours in a day, and the sun doesn't shine for any longer, if anything, daylight hours reduce at this time of year. It really annoys me, I rant about it every single year!
So that us poor Sods in the North see some sliver of daylight before we reach the office in the winter....

Nah it's actually so we make better use of day light in summer so energy is saved by having it lighter in til later. During WWII there was double BST when we went forward 2 hours so we didn't need to use as much energy for lighting. I think it only really has happened once people started working to clock time rather then how dark/light it is.

It happens in all of Europe except maybe Norway or Iceland. Somewhere very far north anyway where the sun barely rises in winter or sets in summer. I have a friend who lived in Kiruna as part of his job and he said the winters are really really hard as it's just gloomy all the time except mid December to Jan when it's just totally dark. Makes me glad for a 8.30 am sunrise and 4pm sunset!

Yeah but some of the sponges you'd be taking out would have a high water content which you'd also be removing and water would have to distribute to take up the space of the removed sponges.

It's like a total bollock to put it into scientific terms.
But wouldn't you just squeeze out the sponges?

So I’m trying to sleep but can’t because I keep thinking really random and strange things.

Maybe somebody can give me an answer on this one! If a chicken eats a load of peanuts in it’s diet, and then get’s butchered, will a person with a nut allergy have an allergic reaction?
If the chicken had fully digested the nuts then there would be zero chance of a reaction.

When lightning hits the sea, why aren’t all the dolphins electrocuted?
(Thanks to an episode of Miranda for putting that in my head 😬)
I think they possibly could be if they were swimming close to the surface. I think it’s a case of when lightening hits water it acts as a conductor causing it to disperse over a wide surface area rather than penetrating deep enough to harm anything swimming beneath.

I’ve wondered this too. And my vegan neighbour wears loads of faux fur, it really makes me wonder sometimes 🤨

Isn't the winter one, gmt, the 'correct ' time and the summer one when the clocks go forward the altered one?

I'd have to confer with the special scientific bollock adjudication panel on that one.
It could be construed as cheating. You'd have to get it all out.
It makes my brain hurt.

Why in the UK are short womens clothing ranges called petite, instead of short or small. The tall range is just called tall and isn't in french
Because you have both petite and short here. River Island for example will do jeans in Short, Regular and Long but then have a seperate section for Petite.

That's good to know.

If you take all the sponges out of the sea would the sea levels increase/decrease/stay the same?
Someone asked me this years ago and I'm still uncertain. The answer isn't as clear cut as it may appear to be IMO.
That’s a good one! I always think if something is take out it should increase?
Where’s our Marine Biologists!

How else could vegan/vegetarian substitutes be made though, you can't have a triangle shaped stawberry tasting sausage, it wouldn't fit in the bun and taste disgusting with chips  it just makes sense to look and taste like meat so it goes with what you eat it with

I once read that it was to encourage more people to eat meatless but providing food they are used too.
But I agree, what’s the point. Surely you want to stop eating things that remind you of little lambs jumping round in fields
