Can’t stand Philip Schofield. He’s the same mould as Gary Linekar - meant to be the “good guys” but are actually pretty terrible people with carefully curated images.

That's what I thought. I genuinely don't think he is perfect but perhaps he has struggled for years with his feelings and confusion in himself and how to go about things, especially being well known and the reception it would get. Yet already people are coming on saying he's making it all about him and how dislikeable he is, no wonder people hide things up and mental health rockets. Perhaps it wasn't his idea to come on today and the producers advised it because in this day and age it's all about coming out and inspiring others etc. Can you imagine if he did it yesterday or any other day this week, coming out and then having to return back to interviewing people and keeping professional. I think some people are a bit too harsh on him when Eamonn has said some very insensitive comments himself.

I think this is the underlying story actually. He's played a blinder here. Now he has the ability to say to his critics it's homophobia!

He saw Meghan Markle blame all the hate on racism, and decided he wanted some of that, but obviously only had sexuality to use as his defence.

I hear you but I kind of understand that it’s different for everyone. I never “came out” I just bought a new partner round for Sunday dinner and it happened to be a girl, no eyebrows raised (mother did go above and beyond to be nice to her though, much more than she did with my current (male) partner ) but I also have a friend whose been living with her partner for over 10 years and they have never spent a Christmas together because she feels her family would have an issue with it, I’m sure they’ve guessed because they own a home and business together but

I wonder if all of this will stop MM going any higher than he is at ITV. His name is now well and truly known - but for all the wrong reasons. It is obvious from his video that he saw himself in a presenter's role in the future, but I kind of think this episode will put the kibbosh on that.

Many people on here seem to know someone who knows someone famous so does anyone know Ruth and why she has beef with Phil? I'm fairly sure it's been said on here that people know people who work on the set of This Morning? I genuinely saw Scofe try and be polite and professional last night to her offering her to speak which he didn't have to but you could tell the tension. I can't put my finger on it but Ruth really grinds on me and she seems like the type who when she can't get her own way throws a strop.

Having gone through this myself I really feel for his wife. It tore my family to shreds and made me very ill. Its really triggering me keep seeing it everywhere this morning. He has publicly humiliated his wife today, boy am I glad it wasn’t put out for the world to see and comment on when it was my family. Not buying the timid soft spoken voice during his interview either. The impact it can have can be devastating, it still affects me years later, I can no longer trust. My thoughts are with his wife and girls.

The same thing happened to a girl friend. Married with two boys and hubby drinks every night and sleeps on the sofa......only to announce he is gay. So sad.

Did anyone notice the amount of actual well known celebrities that publicly supported Phillip on the day he came out could probably be counted on one hand, two at most.

The most telling thing though? The silence from his peers and celebrities he has worked closely to was deafening!!

I think his wife is well known and liked in the circles he runs and more people feel sorry for her than anything.

Yes, without looking up everyone's Twitter account, there was no written support from Ruth and Eamonn, Richard and Judy, Amanda Holden, Fern Britton, Phil Vickery. Apologies if I am wrong about any of these.

They were never in a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship- I’d describe it as dating and it fizzled out. They worked together (she’s not a performer).

Was just feeling sorry for her that he seemed to keep her private! If I was going out/sleeping with someone famous I would wonder why they didn’t want to be seen in public with me!
