Hi everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this...

So for the past 4-5 weeks i have bled constantly, i mean its been constant with no day off. The blood is sometimes fresh red blood that looks pretty much like a normal period. But then it turns into an almost black/dark brown blood with jelly. Sorry for being graphic but when i wipe at times it looks like black jelly. I also have cramp pains and general period type pains.

I phoned the Gp and he has prescribed me some tablets that will help stop the bleeding, he said they are the ones they sometimes give to women when they are going on holiday to ensure they dont come on their period. He also asked me to do a pregnancy test and ive got an appointment next week for an examination.

Sorry for being too graphic, but i just wondered if anyone else has ever been through this? :)

I only had this when I was on the implant, it just didnt suit me. Its good you're getting an exam. Hopefully its all ok!

I also had something similar when I had my implant (both put in and taken out). Has anything changed recently; birth control, covid jab?

Thankyou both for replying. :)

My periods have always been a bit ducked up tbh, ive never had a regular cycle and its not uncommon for me to go 2 months without a period. Due to family history i have had regular smear tests since i was 18 and i have had 'abnormal cells' (or something like that). When i was pregnant with my children i wasnt able to even add my dates up due to my ducked up periods. But this is the first time i have bled like this for so long, and its the dark brown/black jelly type blood that is worrying me. My partner and I thought that perhaps i could be having a miscarriage without me knowing (to my knowledge i havent ever had a miscarriage, so i wouldnt even know what it was like).

But its good the doctor is taking it seriously and i am able to have the examination so touch wood things are okay. :)

Dark is typically old blood and jelly being mucus. Try not to worry, youve had regular monitoring for the serious stuff so hopefully this is an easy fix! X
