does anyone know if you can take metformin and myo-inositol together? i came off the pill nearly 14 weeks ago and generally feel much better in myself, my skin is fine, i’ve lost some weight, i don’t have as much brain fog or tiredness, my headaches have reduced. i have far more energy too!
I take both together and have done for a while my endocrinologist told me to get inositol

I think after now a month, inositol might not be ideal for me. I had reduced from 2000mg to 1500mg due to stomach troubles (and daily diarrhea ), which didn't go away with the 1500mg. Also got more migraines than usual. All the sources I found claim that that would only happen at really high doses of 12g/day, but after some digging, I've found that since it's a sugar alcohol, it can trouble some people similar to sorbitol and a "single serving" can kick things off. I'm now down to 500mg, will track for a couple of days whether that calms things down, but at 500mg I'm not even sure that it's doing anything. but having stomach troubles every day frankly isn't worth it for me, nor do I want to shill out that much money monthly for that....

I used to be on metformin and it really worked for me. I then had to taken off me by a GP who knew FA about PCOS. I’ve asked and asked several GPs since and they won’t put me back on it as it’s in my history that it was taken off me :(
I'm about to have this battle!!! I saw a different GP a few weeks back who wasn't happy I was prescribed metformin in primary care. They won't put it on a repeat prescription now, I have to go back every month which is infuriating. I'm hoping to see my original GP who's interest is in Gynae as her husband is the gynae consultant at our local hospital!! She's the only person who I really feel has listened to me!

So sorry you had it taken off you. Is there no way you can get a second opinion? My blood results showed I wasn't diabetic or pre-diabetic, but something isn't right bcus even when I take metformin, I don't get any "hypos" or symptoms of such.

Hi all, I know everyone's experience with medication is different but I'm wondering how metformin was for you. I started 500mg last week taking it after my breakfast. My gynaecologist said it would take a day or two to get used to it but I'm dealing with headaches, nausea, stomach pains and some diarrhea. I know it's only been a week but hoping that it will settle soon!

What you describe are the well known side affects. If things don’t settle down for you, you can ask for the extended release version which doesn’t cause as many issues.

I was on the same and most of it eased within a week, except from the nausea that was a few weeks. I changed onto the slow release ones and had them in the evening and found them loads better. I got diarrhea if I overate or if I ate after not eating for a long time, but that was about it! Hope it settles for you soon x

I take the slow release ones, my GP advised me to take two before bed as then the symptoms happen as you sleep

Just looking for a bit of advice/experiences on taking the progesterone only pill for PCOS, I was at the doctors yesterday and it has been suggested that I try this to help with my moods (suspected Pmdd) and irregular periods. Has anyone taken this before and it’s made a massive difference? I have already started a full lifestyle change at the start of the year trying to lose weight which isn’t shifting, but my PCOS symptoms and moods were really getting me down. TIA x

I was on it maybe 10 years ago and I remember feeling really irritable and having quite low moods while on it. However I was late teens, early twenties then so not sure if that played a part and I hadn’t been diagnosed with PCOS back then. I’ve just started taking it again 2 weeks ago after having a baby and up to now I haven’t felt any difference mood wise. Hopefully someone will have knowledge for you, hope it works for you x

I was on it earlier this year and only lasted 2 months. Can't say I noticed anything mood wise (I have BPD but I think it's actually more PMDD due to the timings I seem to start getting bad) but I was bleeding on and off the entire time. I'd have a week of bleeding, a three day break, then bleed again for another week. The whole thing for me was not knowing when my period is due (mounjaro did help to regulate this but it's still not clockwork like a lot of women!). I know my mum didn't get on with it, however on the other hand I have a friend who's now been on it for almost a year, she says it's the only pill that has truly worked for her and she's had little to no symptoms at all x

Thank you for sharing your experience, for me too I would like to know when my period is due or at least have it running more regular to help know when to expect my moods to fall so I was worried about the bleeding continuing to either be irregular or continuous so this is very helpful thank you. I am considering mounjaro too because my cycle changed a lot and my symptoms got worse once I gained a lot of weight during lockdown so I might look into this option to see if it will bring my weight down and ease symptoms x

I'm sure you already know but a few of my friends on MJ weren't told, if you use the pill for contraception as well, MJ can stop it working

Thank you, this wasn’t something I was aware of so this is great to know, especially if it isn’t always passed on by the doctor too x

I came off the pill cold turkey back in November and had my first period back in March, had one end of April/start of May, then end of June/start of July. My cycle is a bit irregular at the moment, currently on day 56, last one was 57 days and first one was 45 days so I’ll be interested to see if I get a period in the next few weeks!

Anyway, let me tell you that coming off the pill is the best thing I’ve done. I have so much more energy, less brain fog and able to focus more generally, not as much frequent pain, my migraines have lessened. My skin has thrived too. It’s lovely and I’d really recommend coming off

I managed to lose over a stone after coming off and now I’m on my 2nd month of Mounjaro and lost 17.5lbs as of last week.

We’re not trying for a baby just yet as we get married next year but I’d like to get my body prepared for should we want to and just know my body without hormones

Why is losing weight so hard on PCOS?!

You have a bit of sugar and you’re suddenly having Mr Kiplings baby.

I’m so sick of being overweight!

I do think I’m due on my period but I don’t know cause I’m on the implant and it stopped my periods all together.

To be fair I could probably up my steps and actually work out but I hate going to the gym (even though I pay for it through work!) 😅

Honestly, if you can afford it - mounjaro has changed my life with weight loss

I am so, so tempted by mounjaro. 7 months PP and I weigh more than ever before and I just can’t shift it. Absolutely delighted to have been able to conceive naturally against all odds, but I’ve never hated my body more. It’s not very compatible with my maternity pay though 🙃🙃

The only way I lose weight is 10k+ steps a day and low calories!! It’s so annoying isn’t it, I see people weighing the same eating 300/400 more cals than me and losing weight 🫠
