The whole thing should have been Frencher. The Eiffel Tower and the Seine are nice but it's not enough.

You can be sure that the LA opener will be back in a stadium. LA could never do something like this on their streets.

The center of Paris is beautiful, although you have a very high chance of being mugged.

Meanwhile in LA thesedays it's quite likely your Amazon parcel will never arrive as the trains are regularly robbed.

The highlights reel will show it in a much more favourable light I think, but for those of us who missed the visible testicle, bet that's not included (BOO)!

I'm watching skateboarding. I'm new to this and I'm sure it's all very skilled. However, everytime they fall over I half expect their mum ro rush over with the germoline and plasters.

I'm just so annoyed that all the men's diving is scheduled for when I'm at work.

It's my favourite sport, not just because of the Speedos and nice thighs and abs and arses etc. 😆😆

But I do actually proper get into being an armchair expert about splashes and synchro (on pairs diving). You'd think I knew what I was talking about.

I love how they just showed the ceremony highlights and it took all of five seconds, mostly the animatronic horse

For some crazy reason the German commentators in the studio are absolutely loving it all, they say it’s the best they’ve ever seen.
Now you know why Germany doesn’t host Olympic Games.
Well, '36 and '72 weren't exactly popular for different reasons!

I understand Clare is divisive- maybe just over exposed - but she does at least have a little depth when she’s talking, she preps. Some of the couch dwellers strike me as Just Saying Words. Seem like they’re on the verge of stumbling.
She is probably one of the hardest working sports presenters because she does the prep, so she does know what she is saying. But she is so overexposed and just kinda boring as a presenter. Her hard work and knowledge she has from her prep kinda masks a lack of charisma and screen presence. She's just sort of there. I don't dislike her, but she's not memorable for me.

Erm…is this person actually supposed to be on the stage? And why has this been on for approximately 14 hours?

For those asking the question about women’s gymnastics leotards - the German team have been using a unitard since Tokyo (at least, not sure about before), but not all the athletes like them. In qualifications I think only one of the German women wore the unitard, but they did all have the option. They are allowed in the rules

They have to be really careful about the design because without enough contrast between the leg and body it can make it very hard for the judges to score correctly. Someone wore an all black one at the German trials and it definitely knocked down the wow factor of some of the skills.

From what I’ve read, most elite gymnasts just like wearing the leotard because that’s what they are used to and have competed/trained in for years. Under British Gymnastics rules, girls are allowed to wear shorts over their leotards now, whereas in previous years they would get a penalty for it. So maybe it will change over time.

I also remember seeing an interview with Holly Bradshaw (GB pole vault) who ended up with serious body confidence issues due to having to wear skimpy kit. For Rio (I think, but might have been London) she wore the GB rowing onesie so she would have full coverage and longer shorts, as she had been able to push to have the choice. Shame she didn’t have it before.

Was watching it on iplayer normally you can rewind catch up whilst it's live but couldn't this time.
Caught it in time for the chopped heads 😂.
Then eurovision style clip which then became the shitty menage a trois library scene - didn't know 3somes were for aimed for children (pre watershed). What does any kind of sexual relationship have to do with Olympics opening.

Got bored of watching boats in the rain, ffwrd to GB ( ghastly Tom Daly- I'm not a fan).
Saw more rain - hopefully the athletes don't become ill from being drenched in the rain.
Saw some of the speech and gave up.

The Serena clip, the boat jolted, hence her slip.

Even without rain the opening ceremony would have been rubbish.
