Are Rob’s kids definitely at a private school? Because if they are then they would get more weeks holidays than mainstream at Christmas, Easter and during the Summer. Also private schools are more lenient with holidays during term time as you’re paying for it whether the kids are in school or not plus no interference from the LA. The way he talks about it makes me think maybe they aren’t in private school 🤔
Yeah they definitely go to an all girls private school, won’t mention which one

Enjoyed Aisling Bea today but definitely thought she'd already been on. Was very confused thst Josh had never had 7Up though, it's just an alternative Sprite isn't it, like Pepsi/Coke!

I really enjoyed it! I’m a recent second time mum having some guilt about choosing to formula feed again and it was great to hear her talk positively about it!

I love Aisling Bea, really enjoying the episode (not finished it yet). So nice to hear her talk positively about formula feeding, but I do find Rob's view on breastfeeding so clearly informed by their likely breastfeeding trauma of trying and not being able to. He always talks about formula feeding like it's the only way dads can feel involved, and at one point in the episode I think refers to breastfeeding as "can get a bit cult-y".
It's great to hear someone talk positively about formula but you don't have to talk negatively about breastfeeding to do that.

I think she made some excellent points about formula feeding.

I breastfed my first because I had no idea how to prepare formula and there was no information out there to help me (21 years ago). I was very lucky in that I had an amazing midwife the first few nights post section who sat with me and helped me latch the baby. Then at home I lived with my mum & dad (I was single) and mum had BF both me and my brother so really helped - again no idea how to formula feed.

I wanted to quit so many times and really I should have but I received zero support, HV just said I was doing so well and to carry on. I tried Mumsnet, the response was "why would you switch from BF to FF?" I remember crying because I couldn't find anyone to help me.

In the end at 14 months and thoroughly ducked off with it all, I stopped cold turkey and ended up with mastitis.

(9 years later I decided to BF my second but that was because I'd done it once and he was admittedly a dream to feed, plus it was easier for our family dynamic.)

I really do think Formula needs to stop being demonised and I hate how there's a FF vs BF debate, do what's the best for you - ultimately fed is best. Women being pitted against each other time and again, being made to feel less than perfect for their choices.

I absolutely loved the way she disagreed with breast feeding being free too, your time and effort aren’t free!
I say this as someone who struggled with breastfeeding, and am totally at peace with switching to formula after a few weeks.

Loved this episode! Up there with one of my fave guest episodes I think. She was great.

I love that she hands the baby to men first so they learn how to hold babies, such an interesting take and I agreed with everything she said!

Nah I think it’s just that Rob isn’t naturally as eloquent and gets caught either trying to be quite deep and wordy or just repeating himself when a lot of what he does have to say is valid.

Comes back to I think his insecurities about class and stuff but there’s no need because he’s clearly a really good Dad who can offer loads in these conversations.

Agree with this as well! Chris Ramsey is a bit the same on their podcast re. Formula feeding. They obviously massively struggled to breastfeed too. It’s so hard with baby feeding as the discussion always ends up comparing one to the other and people defending their choice by bashing the other

I loved Aisling’s take on Formula feeding. I also chose to FF for the same reasons she discusses and found very little support. In fact, some mothers in baby groups were quite hostile about it.

It’s nice to hear it being spoken about positively as I found that there is so little out there to reassure FF mums but lots for those who BF- and rightly so. I wish there was a bit more parity and I think Aisling discussed it so eloquently.

I found myself nodding along to it all! Another great episode!

The parenting flashes were really good in between the boxing talk so it was a shame!

Very rare for me to not listen, but today was the day. I feared that Rob would wang on about boxing and I've no interest in the sport or any of the people involved. Seems like I made the right choice.

It's a very impressive looking house, but bloody hell London house prices are absolutely mental.
