I used to be a nanny and I used to sort out all sorts of random stuff as the kids were in school/nursery some of the time. The parents were often away On business so sometimes I’d be there over night or at weekends. I’d make appointments, pick up dry cleaning, do the weekly shop and even printed off travel documents and stuff. I guess I was more of a family PA. However the role was made clear to me before I started and the family were lovely and paid VERY well !

There was no out-tro or anything today?! Just ended on what I think was Charlie Brooker saying 'alright'. A bit odd!

Yes it was, you could tell Charlie Brooker was quite happy to be there. I liked all the side tracks they went down.
My 12 year old has to shave 😂 we got him an electric shaver.

Liked the Charlie Brooker episode, what a nice and genuinely funny guy. Does anyone remember what his wife Konnie answered to the last question about him?

Rob really needs to stop with the woe is me - does he think that every other working parent is able to make every single thing their children do at school?!
Fact is, his job affords them their lifestyle. There wouldn’t be the school performances if he didn’t make the money to pay the fees!

You all know I'm a huge apologist for them both so for them to annoy me it's pretty big 😂

My god the moaning today. Yes you work away a lot, yes you work unsociable hours... You do understand that you can just stop it all and get a 9-5 if you don't like your current work/life balance.

I'm the daughter of a nurse who worked for the NHS for 35 years. In that time she had maybe 5 Christmas days off. It wasn't unusual for her to walk in off a night shift at 7am on Christmas morning.*

So Rob and Josh, respectfully, wind your necks in and check your privellage please.

*Edit to add she's still bitter about the Christmas morning when me and my brother were 5 and 7 and my dad had promised that we'd meet her half way on her walk home. She got half way and we were nowhere to be seen. She found us still snoring in our beds when she got home 😂

Crikey, it is a bit much when the vast majority of parents work full time or more in inflexible jobs, and not only do they largely get to choose to go to school things, they both have partners who are basically stay at home parents who dabble in work. I don’t think my dad came to a single thing at my school, it wouldn’t have even occurred to him to try. I’m in my mid thirties and haven’t stopped to think about that until today, so it clearly hasn’t had any lasting trauma 😂 he’s still a great dad.

I’ve said it before but when it turns into Stand Up Comedian Hell, it completely loses me. And that’s as a non-parent!

If you have the means to take the whole of August off, as Rob said he’s doing, then forgive me but you don’t get to moan about the odd assembly missed.

Echoing what most have already said, there is plenty of children whose parents can't just nip away from work to attend these sort of things.

I think he was trying to say "as someone who is self-employed I thought I'd be able to go to all of these things" but it just didn't come across that was.

I'm not a parent, but even I know that school activities ramp up at Christmas/Easter/Summer holidays and sports day is always around this time of year to. As he said, he's been doing this for 5 years now (girls at school) surely it's not that difficult to keep a little bit of flexibility around these times.

Also Josh still sleeping on the floor 🙄😴

That was draining 🙄😂 like the person above said, you get the whole of August off that is insane. They also don’t work much around Christmas, Rob always gives himself time off in January, and they can easily schedule special events off ahead of time. Meanwhile most people are scrambling to beat everyone elses annual leave requests just to cover basic childcare.

I've not listened yet but I'm not a fan of Ivo, he seems intense and not very funny!

I like him! Seen him live a couple of times and he’s very funny - great crowd work.

He’s obviously still cut up with his relationship ending and..,fair play! Sometimes it can take ages to get to a good place

I hope Ivo Graham is in intense therapy
I think Ivo is fab - I'm relatively certain he is in therapy, he didn't mention it in today's episode but I'm sure he's mentioned it on other podcasts

Oof he is really struggling isn't he. Sounds like he has a good support network around him. I hope he can find his way through to happier days.
