My husband left the kids and I 2 months ago. We are in the process of sorting out an agreement for when he sees the kids.
Currently it is every Saturday for the day, every second Saturday overnight bringing them home for dinner on the Sunday.
Due to this arrangement I only have a day off with the kids every second Sunday. I am starting to feel like I don’t have enough quality time with them. Especially coming into summer and the better weather. I want to be able to take them out and have that down time with them too.
My ex has asked to have them 3 weekends out of 4 from Friday after school until Sunday dinner time but again, I feel this is too much as I need quality time with them too.
I am thinking will alternate weekends be better?
What are other peoples experiences of their arrangements and what did you find worked/didn’t work?

Every other weekend is quite a common arrangement.

Could he take them for dinner maybe one day after school in the week he doesnt have weekends?

As it stands he sees them every weekend. He also has them on a tuesday after school and takes them for dinner sorry I should have added that.
I’m just struggling with not having so much time with them.

I know a couple of situations. We used to do Friday-Sunday every other weekend but now she rarely stays over (she’s much older now). I know people that do dinner after school a couple of nights and alternative weekends.

Hey, my partner has an arrangement with his ex.
Collects his daughter every other Friday from nursery and takes her home at 4:30pm on the Sunday.
He also see's her for dinner every Wednesday.

Works for all of us as gives us time with his daughter and also gives her Mum time with her x
