Now, after nearly a decade of estrangement and bitter jibes, Malik is reportedly looking to rebuild a friendship – and he is not averse to the possibility of a reunion.

'He doesn't know if it will ever happen, or when, but he would love to start a conversation with the other guys from One Direction and try to make amends with all of them,' an insider told DailyMail.com exclusively.

'He is trying to figure out the best way to reach out because it will be odd, weird, and uncomfortable, but it is something that has been on his mind.'

The insider insisted the decision is purely based on rebuilding relationships – not on getting the band back together to perform.

'Whether that leads them to working together again musically is one thing, but Zayn's reasoning is to become friends with his mates that he did so much with.

'Zayn wants to approach them for forgiveness and friendship. Working with them is not important to him right now.

'He has matured and wants to show the rest of the guys this. To be friends again would be amazing.'

I expected this at some point but just not so soon which I think is why I’m shocked. I’m sure it was discussed on one of these threads once that we could see it ending this way but I can’t find where. I remember at the time Matthew Perry passed that I could see Liam’s fate being the same.

Louis is in LA on holiday with his family

I had a weird dream about Louis last night in two stages. I’ve been hoping to dream about Liam himself but it hasn’t happened yet. The first part I was singing Over Again to him and snogging him. I’m not sure how long after Liam’s adding it was but we were friends/lines slightly blurred. I had a daughter aged about 13, but everyone around me, including myself, in my life still looked the same age they do now. DD keeps popping up in my dreams but I don’t have kids right now. She has the same name as one of Louis’s sisters but it’s a name I’ve loved for years. Coincidentally my middle name is also in one of Louis’ sisters’ names.

Louis was still very upset about Liam, and we were stood at Jay’s grave talking about him speaking about various moments from our different perspectives. I told him that Liam would be so proud. I’m not sure what the significance of it is and I’m upset that I haven’t yet dreamt of Liam himself.

He said a few times how good looking Zayn was and that it was hard to stand next to him some days he was highlighting gofundme campaigns yesterday which was nice though.

Yeah I said the same thing about Liam before. I honestly think he could really excel at something that's more music-adjacent than music itself.

I think when Louis doesn't have enough fans to even do a small tour he will probably just stop completely. He's not good at networking and doesn't seem to have a strong work ethic. I'm not sure what he could really do. I could see more kids or something.

Honestly I don’t know what it takes to make a genuine success of life in this business (I mean genuine contentment and emotional and spiritual success, not just economic) especially if you enter it early in life. Incredible stability in your background, a rock-solid family with deep values who know what really matters and somehow manage to prioritise your well-being while ensuring that you don’t get too full of yourself? Seems nigh-on impossible.
