I’ve seen the videos of her singing awfully (Austin City Limits specifically) but she sounded pitch perfect
I don’t see why her using the same co writers as other musicians is an issue?

Because some people seem to think having co-writers means you don’t actually write your own music but that’s definitely not always the case. Obviously if you have like 7 co-writers per song or something then it’s understandable that people would question how much you actually write but Olivia only has one co-writer and he’s also her producer so it’s literally just the two of them working on her songs.
Most artists write their songs with others. I’m sure it’s a more fun experience working with and exchanging ideas with other writers than it would be doing it all on your own.

I guess this must be an age thing because Olivia is not even remotely on their level in my generational contingent (thirtysomething).
Interesting. I’m in my 30s and I’d think Olivia is currently much bigger. Like Kylie would be a nostalgia thing but if you compare their recent singles (Vampire and Padam Padam.) Vampire has 230 million streams on Spotify and has been out for less time whereas Padam Padam has 55 million.
Also not sure if Kylie was as big in the US as she was here in the UK 20 years ago? Whereas Olivia had had very global success with Sour.
As a huge Carly Rae fan - in terms of mainstream success she’s a one hit wonder. Her music is excellent and she’s got her own dedicated fan base, but she doesn’t even aim for commercial success anymore.
I’m also in my 30s and Olivia is definitely more successful.
Kylie is definitely more of a Nostalgia thing - and honestly she isn’t particularly popular amongst younger millenials and Gen Z.
I’m not sure why there’s this obsession with putting down female musicians and implying they don’t have much input in their craft. People love implying successful female stars are lying about their writing credits. You see it with Taylor Swift all the time

She reminds me of Avril Lavigne. Probably why I like her as Avril is my all time favourite artist.

My vinyl came today - I didn’t know the colour as a friend has bought it as a gift. But she got me the red one, it’s beautiful and slightly marbled. Depending on which colour vinyl you get, you also get 1 of 4 bonus tracks - Obsessed, Girl I’ve Always Been, Stranger and Scared of My Guitar
I got Obsessed on my red vinyl and it might be my fav song on the whole album!
omg i’m so tempted to get the red one because you can get a t shirt with it (i think!!) and if the bonus track is good too
