Office Gossip

This is just awful but it provided so much gossip for ages.

A woman joined our office. On her very first day, she told one of the quieter guys in the office that she was unhappy in her marriage and loathed having children, and asked whether he wanted to make her an offer. I kid you not. She said this to him in the kitchen, in front of several people. She hadn't even been introduced to him!

He took up with her "for fun"; when she became clingy and annoying he distanced himself from her, at which point she threatened to tell his wife about them if he didn't leave her. He thought she was bluffing so didn't do a thing; next thing, his wife turned up at work with all his clothes and personal effects, called him from the carpark and told him to go to the window, and then proceeded to drive over everything, back and forth ... ruining everything in the process. He didn't have anywhere else to go so moved in with the fling at this point.

Fast forward a couple of years and several of us had left this place of employment by that stage, but several people still kept in contact with the guy. It turned out that the woman seemed intent on ruining his life for goodness knows what reason. Not only did she break up his marriage and pretty much halt any sort of contact he had with his kids, but she also framed him for embezzlement (at this point, they were running a small business together). He actually served time and because he can't prove his innocence, he is stuck with a record. He does have a job, but because of his criminal history his professional reputation is in tatters.

This woman, meanwhile, has gone on to marry someone who used to be one of the managers at our old place of employment, who was fully aware of all that happened - how stupid is he?! This woman has a certain prowess that men find hypnotic; it'll be only a matter of time before she ruins this guy's life too for whatever reason she dreams up, and moves on to her next victim. So far she's been married 3 times and has 4 children, who she never sees. And she's only mid-30s!

She is NOT attractive, which is the weird part! She is quite short and dumpy-looking, but wears shortish skirts and matching (tight) suit jackets and extremely high heels with black stockings - it's her uniform. She has this air of arrogance about her and wears her hair super short - not cute and pixie-like; more frumpy-and-I-don't-care style. She doesn't even wear make-up. Sorry if this all sounds witchy but I just do not get what men see in her. If she was gorgeous I would absolutely understand.

She is probably very forward and direct, and some men like that.

The trouble is that unlike women, men are a lot superficial and once past 30's many men aren't interested in having a relationship with someone over 40. Yes, there is the cougar thing, but often those don't last.

I had a boss like this, she wasnt much to look at but she was so cringingly forward with men she would be fighting them off.

I'm back with more!

1) I worked in a small office with two other women - they were the owner/operators; I was the worker (and boy did they keep reminding me of that). They had their own little bathroom fitted into the main office which I was not allowed to use under any circumstances - I was told I had to use the floor toilets for all the tenants. One day, my husband came up with me to the office very early and he needed to use the loo in a hurry. The door leading from the stairwell out to the loos was locked, so we managed to find the key to the special office bathroom so he could use that ... unfortunately he had a very upset stomach and ended up stinking the place out. There was no air freshener; there wasn't even an external window we could open ... an hour or so later, I thought the "aroma" had gone, but when the two ladies came into work the first thing they commented on was the dreadful smell. I had to pretend there was a gas leak somewhere out on the street - not sure they ever believed me. Another time, we borrowed their vacuum cleaner to vacuum our flat and forgot to clean the bag. Our carpet at home was white, and the office carpet was navy blue; they kept making little comments, wondering how white fluff had worked its way into the bag, but never said anything more about it.

2) I worked for a small corporate services team based in a subsidiary of a government department. The accounts payable clerk managed to steal over $100,000 in 2 years by creating fake invoices for "consultants" doing work for the department (there were so many coming through at any one time), sending the payments directly to her bank account, and nobody noticed until 10 years down the line when a large-scale audit was conducted (why it wasn't done sooner, remains a mystery). By that time she'd spent all the money but had nothing to show for it. She'd also moved onto another job shortly after the theft, where she continued her tricks. She was sentenced to home detention for 6 months, and was not forced to pay anything back in reparation as she cited mental health issues as being the reason for her offending.

Back in the 80's, I was a student and temping in the City in London for the summer holidays.
They were telling me how they had a Christmas party in the office the previous year.
The Chairman went up to his office on the 6th floor, and found 2 members from our department on the the 2nd floor; shagging on his desk!
We never found out who they were!

I once worked with a man who got arrested for filming other men on the toilet at work. Voyeurism. Extremely odd

Worked at a law firm and so many of them were shagging about. Not long after I left there was a work Christmas do. One of the solicitors got a blowjob from a young office assistant (I think she may have only been 17), a few people caught them going into a bathroom together and coming out looking dishevelled, she told a few people what had happened but it wasnt that bad because it was just a blowjob 🙄. The man has a wife and three smal kids ffs, there's no excuse from him.

A friend's daughter has just started working for a very trendy multimedia agency (or ad agency, I guess - but they do everything else in between). The MD is 28 and all the staff are in their 20s. It sounds like they do everything together - even on the weekends, they're at the MD's house for BBQs or out on the water on his boat - it just sounds like one big, non-stop party ... which would be fun at that age if you were single and into socialising and living, breathing, work and your workmates ... I don't think I'd like it though. I imagine the gossip is gold standard.

Around ten years ago a friend of mine worked at a place that required staff to wear photo ID badges.
One day the old bill marched in and arrested the director of finance. Someone in IT was looking at his PC re a problem and came acoss a set of pics where he had cropped the heads off some of the female staff ID photos and added them to pics of naked bodies.

A few years after if happened she bumped into an old colleague who said he had since got a job working at hotel in dubai.

At my first job when I was 18, there was the usual shagging and fool pics sent around. One woman was having an affair with her friends partner and she used to sit with her as she would cry about him. She had an idea he was cheating but, had no proof. Little did she know the witch who was comforting her was shagging her bf in the disabled toilets.

In my job after that a very high up lawyer got caught pulling himself off by a porter in the reprographics room.

I sometimes used to work until 8 and around 6pm every night there would be a tit left in the women’s toilet with no toilet paper. The stench was so bad it’d bring tears to your eyes. I was fascinated by it and decided to find out who it was. I asked could I look at cctv but, obviously they said no 😂 So I decided to ‘cover’ reception a few times to write down everyone that went in and out. I finally figured out who the phantom bleeper was and was utterly surprised as she was a lovely woman. Dirty witch for not wiping though.

We had a guy who would wear a cape on dress down days. The same guy created a calendar of some of the women in the office photoshopped onto sexy elves bodies. It was very disturbing but, tastefully done. He sent all the girls included one for Christmas. It was hard to explain to my family on Christmas morning.

I used to work with a lady who would phone in sick nearly every Friday and every Monday which really annoyed the team as we were on a roster to mind Reception when she was on her breaks and off work (they were reluctant to get temps in because they cost too much). It was obvious she was hung over or just couldn't be bothered coming into work on those days, which made everyone's feelings towards her worse (she was a nice lady but was just there to collect her pay and really didn't want to be there). She had been with this organisation for 20+ years and had friends in very high places so getting rid of her wasn't an option.

One woman in my team was especially strange, and took a huge dislike to this woman, so tried to get her into trouble over things. Thank goodness it was in the days before social media (and the internet for that matter). I remember one day she caught a bus to this woman's house in her lunch hour, peered through the windows and took photos of all that she saw (which was booze bottles and mess), before showing our boss. She also rummaged through her bin at the end of the day to see what she'd been up to and told our boss she smelt and didn't wash her hands after going to the bathroom. I would have thought our boss - who was also a nice lady - would have given this weird woman a stern warning of sorts, but she absolutely thrived on knowing all the details, which she'd always start meetings with me by divulging (being quite young, I didn't have the guts to say, "Stop it!"). It was such a horrible environment. I left for a better job in the end; I have no idea what ever happened to any of the people there.

I had someone in my office like that. I was her supervisor, but not her manager. The others got more and more annoyed with her, and one week when I was away an almighty row broke out, with two people walking out. Unbelievably, the day after I got back in, the manager sent for me, and said to me to find out what happened!!!! He'd been there the whole time, just couldn't be bothered to do anything!

I used to work for a well known bank and one day we had internal investigators turn up and frogmarch our manager into an interview room. It turns out he was stealing money from the ATM and the deputy manager was covering up for him. He got sacked on the spot and she still works there but got demoted.

In a previous job of mine the HR manager was married to the receptionist. He was also shagging the sales manager. Everyone in the office seemed to know about it apart from his Wife, or if she did know, she was good at hiding it.

My first retail job, the GM was caught on camera shagging one of the supervisors in our loading bay. He got sacked, and his wife kicked him out, and I went to sixth form with his stepson at the time. He knew I knew, poor lad wouldn't look me in the eye after that.
