I'm pretty sure that nurseries have to be available to all children, not just those of key workers. I work in childcare and where I work has been open to all under 5s since the start of lockdown. I'm also 99.9% sure that they cannot charge you for a service you are not recieving so I would question that with them and take that further if necessary. We were told that we could not charge families who were not attending due to self isolation or sickness with Covid despite having a policy of full payment if the child is off at short notice.

45 mins there and back pretty much plus the time inside collecting him. I’ll see how far it is when I go to visit. I’m due a baby in October and I’m worried how the baby will cope in the car for that long every day, but maybe my partner will be home from work at that tome

You’re due a baby in October? it’s only feb so does that make you less than 4 weeks preg?

My uni is 2 days a week of lessons the rest is coursework, I don’t have placements, the baby will be with their grandparents for this short amount of time. I don’t get why it’s okay for the dad to leave the baby but not the mum

my uni year ends in May the rest is the summer so time outfor scans won’t be an issue

I wasn’t implying it wasn’t ok for you to leave the baby. I was just querying it because you have a lot going on right now as it is without adding a newborn into the mix. Sorry if you took it the wrong way.

Fuckkkk I just sent the email which was basically a well worded slap in the face to them, ended it with the fact I’ll be withdrawing my son immediately. I’m so nervous for the response

15 min vs 22 min drive is little difference? At least at a 22 min drive your child gets to attend nursery

I’m guessing it will be your partner’s parents who will have the baby while you go to uni- are they available to help pick up or drop off your little boy or offer any wrap around care?
Have you thought about a childminder? In my experience they are a lot more flexible than a nursery? Could your partner do any drop offs?
