Noah Donohoe was a 14 year old boy from Belfast who went missing and was later discovered dead in a storm drain. I will paste an article by a Belfast media journalist that gives information on the young boy & the aftermath

Noah left his South Belfast home to cycle to North Belfast where he had arranged to meet some friends. It was late afternoon on Sunday, June 21. He had agreed to call his mother a short time later, but the call was never made.

The story of Noah’s six-day disappearance and its heartbreaking dénouement claims a special place in the annals of infamy

As the days passed, the search for Noah grew in intensity, with ordinary people arriving from all over the city and beyond to lend a hand. Six days later his naked body was found in a storm drain just off the Shore Road, near to the Crusaders football ground.

So, in the midst of an unprecedented worldwide focus on racial violence, a mixed-race teenage boy goes missing. After six days of ceaseless and ever-mounting media coverage, he is found dead, unclothed, in a storm drain. The scene is set for the media to go to work. How did he die? Where did he go? Who saw him? Where’s the CCTV? Why was he naked. Where are his clothes? Where is his bike? Where are his backpack and laptop? There’s enough here to fill newspaper front pages and talk-show and TV slots for months to come. The appetite for information is huge.

But then something extraordinary happened. The story just kind of fizzled out. Media outlets here are no different from those anywhere else – they love nothing better than a long-running story which both engages and inflames public opinion. In the industry such a story is said to ‘have legs’ – ie, it will run and run. Stories with legs are journalist gold dust. Noah Donohoe’s story had legs like no other Belfast story I’ve seen in decades.

But the story slowed down, and then it stopped; the legs were gone, the run was over. Squinter doesn’t know why. Hasn’t a clue. Does he think journalist colleagues of his are involved in an elaborate conspiracy to hide the truth about what happened? No, of course he doesn’t. He simply makes the observation that in late June 2020 this was a massive story which for the media had ceased to be a massive story at the very time it was gathering pace.

But it’s perhaps the role of the PSNI that has furrowed Squinter’s brow most of all. A police spokesperson ruled out foul play at an extraordinarily early stage. A post-mortem found that Noah died by drowning, but a spokesperson for the family has observed that the finding “raises more questions than answers” and the inquest remains subject to delays. But it’s the police’s decision to seek a Public Interest Immunity Certificate (PIIC) in relation to information contained in three evidence files on Noah’s disappearance and death that has deepened Squinter’s concern about the case into something more akin to astonishment.

PIICs are normally used to hide police information-gathering processes and to protect informants. Squinter has no idea what the police doesn’t want the public to know about its investigation into the death of a schoolboy.

A QC for the PSNI told Coroner Joe McCriskin in December that PIICs are most often sought in relation to police “methodology”, which merely leads us to wonder what on earth the police could have been doing in their investigation of the disappearance and death of a child that they don’t want us to know about. And in making the application, the PSNI will have been fully aware of the suspicions that it would give rise to and of the further dent that it would put in already shaky public confidence in police handling of the case. But clearly they view the hiding of the information as being worth the reputational hit. And that’s quite the calculation.

Thanks for starting the thread Shazzy. Noah’s case breaks my heart. Obvious to everyone that something sinister happened and there’s an active cover up going on. I don’t know how his family keep going but I hope they do 💙

What is county lines?

also that Matthew fella that died I didn’t think he got into a car?

Realistically Fiona has painted a picture of Noah of being the straight A, cello playing golden child (which he was) but implied that he would never do a thing wrong, was an angel and scared of the dark etc. I don’t think this outcome is going to be good for her as it seems he wasn’t perfect. And I don’t believe that means he deserved to die at all but I just am completely confused now. If you go back on this whole thread we had loads of random theories of things that may have happened but it was only the last month where we started thinking of other things like this.
Was it defo only alcohol that is her issue?

also in the case of a child death if a coroner does toxicology does it get reported publicly or does it need parental consent??
I’m not sure why the fact he wasn’t perfect is relevant. Nobody is. Believe it or not I was a straight A student once upon a time 😂 I also used to sneak out of the house to see my now husband. My parents weren’t alcoholics but they hadn’t a clue I was sneaking out. I also don’t believe “this outcome won’t be good for her”. She’s already living the worst outcome, her only child is dead and she doesn’t know for sure what happened to him. Closure is what she needs now and like I said before a painful truth is always better than the torture of just not knowing. If that truth is that Noah was taking drugs, doing something illegal, depressed, being groomed/coerced or whatever the case may be it would be better for her to know.

And if any of those things turn out to be true then it doesn’t mean that Noah wasn’t still a bright, beautiful child. I can’t put my finger on it but there seems to be some sort of passive aggressive undertone with some comments I’m reading on Twitter. It’s not lost on me that they’re coming from one section of the community either. Why is it necessary to point out “he wasn’t an angel”. So? How many teenagers are? He was a child, I’ve never known a child’s death to be spoken about in the way Noah’s has. It’s odd to say the least. Poor Chloe Mitchell clearly had her issues but nobody is pointing out she wasn’t an angel or scrutinising her family. And rightfully so because it’s completely irrelevant.

I’m late to this thread but been reading with interest. I remember the story being in the news and I had no idea what the storm drain looked like.

The biggest part of this story that tells me it wasn’t an accident is the fact he was naked. Teenage boys value their privacy and are hugely self conscious at that age. He would not be naked in a public area. It just wouldn’t happen.
Had he been found fully clothed in the drain, I reckon it could be explained away as ‘hiding’ or misadventure etc. He was undressed - and as far as I can gather his clothes not found?

It's all so sinister. His autopsy confirmed he died by drowning. Did it also confirm the presence of a head injury?
As this is the explanation given for the fact that a 14 year old child was cycling naked through a housing estate. I would hope that there was proof of that and that it wasn't just supposition.

I watched an interview with Noah's Mum last year. Absolutely heartbreaking. Such a bizarre case with so many more questions than answers,

Two names circulating on social media in relation to Noah. One takes his own life around the time Noah’s body was found. The other who has previous for violence and sectarian violence leaves Belfast. The uncle of the two named then appears in court for harassing Fiona. That’s one too many coincidences for me.

Noah’s mother is not mad. She’s tortured and social media is her only outlet. I dare say I’d be locked up by now if I was in her position.

Interesting development. You probably know what I think but this is really odd, every time I think I have it sussed and blame incompetence etc something like this emerges. It's odd that the man up in court has been named previously on socials and his nephews (?) linked to the disappearance of Noah.
I now have to throw my hands up and say something really odd/bad may have occurred here.
Poor Noah and god help his mummy.
Why would anyone put a grieving mother through this unless they had some sort of agenda.
I know rumours always spread when something like this happens but rarely do you hear specific names and the rumours about these particular individuals have never gone away. Too many coincidences now, one of the named has taken his own life, the other left Belfast, and now their uncle (?) in court for harassing Noah’s mother?
Noah wasn’t some teenage delinquent, he was a boy who had never been in trouble, studied hard at school, had plenty of friends and a bright future ahead of him. Suicide never made sense to me. Nor does the accident theory. Cycling naked, shedding his belongings along the way? Found deep in a storm drain that most people from the area didn’t even know existed? I’ve always believed someone hurt him.

I'm not a fan of the Noah army people but I guess they're necessary. I find the grief tourism difficult.
I think that's why I haven't properly examined this situation and just went along with the head injury theory. I think Naomi Longs post is probably in a similar vein tbh, although she should be far more open to theories than me.
Fair enough if NL is content with the police findings but her wording in that tweet was still horribly insensitive I thought. It just came across as “he’s dead and what do you want me to do about it”. Personally I thought it was awful, saying nothing would’ve been better.

I think there is possibly some sort of press injunction going on in mainstream and I hope Netflix or something high profile picks up on the case because then there will have to be an investigation into how this is handled.

I can’t remember the origin of the head injury story, I assumed she had called it in but maybe not. I do remember the initial press conference and Naimh was there with the police and they said about potential head injury and that it was out of character etc and the idea that if he had been disoriented and stripped seemed logical enough at the time.
Then when it came out that he was out with a Jordan Peterson book in his bag I thought it was a bit random and thought potentially he had hurt himself.

It’s clear that the relationship between his mum and the police broke down quite quickly so I think when they realised what had happened they stopped talking.

My extreme conspiracy theory is that an undercover cop was working in drugs and has got involved in using and something has been seen by Noah or he was attacked. I’ve seen docs about cops having to get involved with things while under cover and ending up addicts as a result.
Definitely think he's seem something and it camt be just run of the mill criminals, why would they be protected. He mightnt even have realised the significance just knew he was in some danger. Wouldn't take much to scare a young lad like noah. I know people who knew him and fiona very well and from all accounts he was just a lovely timid little lad.

I can buy her thinking a bike left was just kids leaving things lying around as I know in the middle of the summer in a cul de sac with a lot of kids that bikes and toys get left in all sorts of drives and lawns etc.
She said she reported it the next day when she heard someone was missing and the bike was still there.

just curious what you mean about not thinking to check the drain? As people seem to think he was placed up the storm drain days after due to his body not being damaged by water?
Maybe people already did search her back garden and then if more and more people were coming wanting to look she got pissed off? (I haven’t seen the video and if she was being sectarian I’m not supporting that at all)

realistically I think this is more of a police failure. When she reported the bike on the Monday THEY should have been using their initiative and checking the drain as they should have awareness of the local area. I don’t think pinning some conspiracy on some random woman is helpful given that it is clear the incident happened starting from the city centre and who knows where.
That was the issue she wouldn't let searchers into the garden even after she seen the bike on her driveway. Something was off about it.
I'm doing all I can to locate the video taken by searchers and her telling them to fuck off from her property.

Now if I found a bike of a missing child in my drive and knew there was a storm drain out my back that I had reported as unsafe surely that's the first place you let people look no?
My opinion is loyalist knew what happened that poor child and done everything to cover it up, the psni being a wheel in that cog. Why else would they hide the files!!!
The psni were incompetent from the start and thats a fact no one can dispute but ask yourself why were they incompetent ?! I believe they done all they could to stall the investigation so they could cover up what really happened Noah.
The child was murdered, by who I don't know but what I do know is when the government hide files especially related to the North of Ireland its because they know who was involved and are covering it up for what ever reason.

I think its her latest theory, I don't believe for a second she would have known about this.
She says he was speaking to someone the evening before he went missing and allegedly that has never been either fully disclosed to her or investigated.
Fiona doesn't seem the type to have been involved in any criminality, she appears to be well educated and moving in circles above any of that. She doesn't trust the system that is designed to protect and cushion her now and jumps from one conspiracy to another because nobody has provided her with any answers. She was undoubtedly a very different person before Noah died. It's awful awful sad.
If this was murder she's just found herself vulnerable living amongst the worst of society.

I’m Scottish so I don’t really know too much about the PSNI but I’ve not long finished watching Murder In The Badlands, the series about unsolved cases of murdered women in Northern Ireland. The blatant cover ups and secrecy had me stunned so unfortunately I’m not surprised at what’s happening in regards to Noah. It just seems to be corruption on another level. Really sinister stuff.

I pointed to the possible dynamics in the house yesterday what I didn't do was say the mother was selective with the truth and the police are being secretive with information with her because they think she could be implicated but can't prove it.

This is tattle people are entitled to their opinion.
I found it low thats my opinion.
Yeah look we’re all speculating and I don’t know what issues Fiona has or doesn’t have but I think it’s clear she loved her son even if she didn’t know every single thing about him. I have teenage sons, I know they keep things from me and quite frankly I don’t want to know everything 🙈
Here are the facts, most people will have some issue with their mental health in their life time. If they’re then found naked in a storm drain it shouldn’t be assumed they’ve taken their own life. Especially if they’re a child. If the police have some sort of concrete evidence that Noah died by his own hand, suicide or accident then his mother should be allowed to see that evidence. If evidence like this exists the police could’ve avoided years of speculation by just putting it to bed quickly.

I think she does know the painful truth but wants everyone else to know it ,that involves legal receipts ,she can’t just go about naming names without concrete proof, I think the PSNI have that proof 🤷🏼‍♀️… I also don’t think it throws a bad light at her or Noah there’s plenty of kids being exploited under their parents nose ,they’re victims imo.
It feels like low-key victim blaming though because “he wasn’t an angel”. Any other child who dies, be it suicide, accident, illness or murder people are full of sympathy. With Noah people seem to find it necessary to point out “he wasn’t perfect”. If he was using drugs does that mean his life wasn’t as valuable and shouldn’t have been investigated properly? I’m sorry but I don’t get it.

An old acquaintance of mine died in suspicious circumstances a very long time ago. Completely naked in a flat with no central heating, all windows open, middle of winter. Anyone who knew him suspected foul play. Turned out he had taken drugs and must have been tripping, stripped off, opened all the windows and died of hypothermia.

The whole naked aspect of Noah’s case has troubled me greatly, but my gut feeling has always been that he had taken drugs and this was a result of the “trip”. We never really know what’s going on with anyone. No parent wants to think anything bad of their child, especially when they are no longer here but when I was that age, my mother (single parent family) knew only what I wanted her to and I hid lots of things from her.

I get why you keep repeating what you’re saying @Griftymcgriftface no matter the theory or suggestion, nobody wants to attribute blame to Noah or allude that he was at fault. He was a child and he should still be here. It’s just so tragic.

Grifty why are you continually posting that you didn't think the child deserved to die? It's weird.
Sorry I feel like by saying anything critical of him or Fiona people will think I think he deserved it. I realise it probably looks weird which isn’t my intention. I’ll stop it. I think we all know none of us think he should have died. It just feels quite sensitive to be in anyway critical or questioning. The story has taken such a crazy turn in the last day. I don’t know what to believe any more.

There has definitely been a huge degree of PSNI incompetence and potentially cover up right from Fiona alerted the authorities that her precious son was missing.

- The PSNI did not actively do searches
that was a body of people deeply driven with a desire to help a mother find her soon that did that.

- A large number of volunteers that went out in those early hours/days were met with hostility searching certain areas.

- Whilst media portrayed a whole ‘community’ together trying to find this child that was far from the truth.

- I have family living in north belfast who were out daily and noticed a change in the atmosphere prior to his body being found.

- The community search and rescue team can not go out searching unless with given permission from the PSNI or getting a call from them to respond. People tagging them on posts and comments on FB in those early stages got that that answer repeatedly from the CRS team.
This request was not made when the child had went missing on Sunday.

Let’s not forget the backdrop of all this.

- We are in the middle of a pandemic

- The Black Lives Matter protests had just taken place

- Tensions were high about the twelfth getting cancelled

- The attack on that other young catholic boy in the same area

- The ongoing issues at the Grove Playing fields with loyalist paramilitaries

It has been my opinion right from the start that
the PSNI were incompetent in the whole handling of this case and everything about it since.
That they know more than they are letting on.
They were acting on intelligence when they searched that drain.

In an attempt to NOT fuel anymore sectarian tensions especially coming up to July, they have sacrificed the proper investigation of a missing child and are denying his poor mother the truth.
