Anyone fancy spending £0 in September? Obviously you can pay bills and buy food, I have to get my car MOT’d, but no unnecessary purchases. Not even books...

I just had a moment where I would have spent unthinkingly, I realised I had ran out of lip balm. Usually would just order some Kiehls and probably add something else to the basket. Instead I had a scrabble through the bathroom drawer full of (crap) hotel minis and stuff from flights and found a full size stick lip balm. Saved myself at least €25. :ROFLMAO:

And I feel about 9.5 on the smug scale.

I think fat club/gym/presents for others is all allowed, it’s the buying stuff that nobody NEEEDS which we are to stand firm against!
I did buy socks in Sainsbury’s this afternoon (three pairs of footlet things, five trainer socks, two thermal bed sock type pairs, £20 altogether) but the weather is turning and my sock situation was dire - I last restocked them properly in 2014 - so I think that’s not terrible.

Unfortunately it's the 1st and I already spent half my September pay 🤣 so I could be in from next month 😂

I'd love to join please. My husband getting demoted very soon and we are losing a huge chunk of income per year. So this will really help.

I'm in! I spend too much on fripperies and wish not to. I have enough books to read, skincare to use and clothes to wear for the month of September and probably beyond. I will use this thread for accountability. Good luck to anyone else!

Today (1/9): €0

I can confidently say today will be another no spend day. :) Disabling my amazon account and unsubscribing from shopping with discounts emails has been helpful in not having temptation thrown in my direction.

I was bad, I bought a colander and two mixing bowls, all reduced so just £7. We are building all our cookware from scratch, so they were all needed. Could I have waited till next month? Yes, but then they would be £20 😂
So you've saved £13 on something you were going to buy anyway. That's not bad, that's great!

Such a good idea. I deep cleaned and threw out a lot of stuff over the lockdown period where I live and I’m loath to bring more stuff into the house. It just takes up space and is such a waste of money when I tally it all up. But at the same time habits die hard. The constant temptation to just buy that one thing, add that extra item to the cart, convince yourself you need that purchase.

Today I almost placed an online order for a new tarot deck and I thought of this thread and stopped myself. I think I’ll try to buy nothing nonessential this September and by October I can reevaluate what I really wanted versus impulse buying. Keen to see how people go.

I think the aim is to try and have as many days as possible where you don't spend money, and be conscious about what you do spend on the days you buy things.

This is a great idea - I'm generally terrible at this (online shopping is the bane of my existence!) and having a group here to hold each other accountable would be really helpful.

Love this idea!
I feel since lockdown I’m more ‘aware’ of money, as in pre lockdown I wouldn’t think anything of spending £4+ on a takeaway sandwich now I wouldn’t at all
Everything is a treat now which I feel is how it should be ☺
